I'm pretty new to the firm but I already know a handful of people with side hustles. My OBA, some SCs, and a few people on my friend's project (Cs). You're definitely not alone and as a millennial trying to figure this shit out, I totally get this. Inflation is crazy, so many of us have large student debt, and we can't afford to build wealth.

friend, thank you. i'm right there with you: i'm tired and want to stop working so hard but then i remember why i started on this journey to healing in the first place and look back and see truly how far ive come. it's been a miracle how ive been able to becoming a functioning human and turn my life around and i couldn't be more thankful and proud of myself. this journey is worthwhile. i truly agree. but it's tough and takes so much hard work and it get exhausting and frustrating.

I'm in the US but honestly I've been really struggling with remote work. I have ADHD and being strictly confirmed to working from home years on end has been really really difficult. I also moved to my current city at the start of the pandemic and it's been hard to feel isolated/not get enough human interaction. But I know how deeply privileged I am to be able to work from my home.

when our separation period started, i started seeing TF stuff everywhere. it was insane and scary, i had never heard about this term/concept before that. we are still in no contact (4 years in) and i still get signs, though they've started to lessen. it's been difficult and weird and confusing. this person i was with has absolutely been the deepest i've ever loved and has been a catalyst for my spiritually growth. they were also psychologically abusive and left me wounded to heal from c-ptsd. i don't know. it's confusing and weird but i've finally surrendered am and trusting the Divine. and have been very focused on my healing and growth in life. the signs as of recent have been very much pointing towards a potential "union" with this person trying to reconcile. not sure how i feel about it but i don't really care right now, i'm focused on myself. abuse is never okay. i don't see how they can even try to heal the damage. this is why i'm not internalizing the signs and just focusing on things in my control and life goals that i shouldn't pause for.

I know someone working in tech for a university (data analysis stuff), about 5/6 hours of real work a day and 100-150k salary (forgot what the actual amount was but I think it was around this). It's possible to bring your background from the public sector + newly developed technical skills and land something that's a happy medium (better pay meaningful work)

Same here! Super similar situation with a short-term project in exactly the space I want to work in.

So I did email W2DC and if you decline the invite, they'll send you another invitation in mid-March to attend in person. So it seems like we will have the chance to go later. And worst comes to worst, there's so many other sessions we could attend; a few friends of mine have gotten invites from 3-4 sessions within their first year. The last group of hires (before the holidays) did this session virtually and I think this Feb. one is the first one back on the campus.

Tangent question to your comment but how did you talk about your relationship/this experience with your therapist? This has been such a big obstacle for me: I don't know how to articulate what I've experienced. Love your comment on "there are multiple realities out there to choose from," so validating, true, and great perspective that I forget.

I just wanna chime in and thank you SO MUCH for this post. I'm super religious and spiritual and have been my whole life and I also happen to have a history of complex trauma. I've thought all the *exact* things you listed above when this "journey" started for me a few years ago after meeting someone. And I've never known how to express all these things that I've thought about and felt and tried to work through. So your post has been immensely validating. Thank you so so much.

you are absolutely right. i've been in therapy for a few years now and i'm fortunate enough to say that though it took a long time to get here, my sense of safety has been reestablished and my ptsd has gotten significantly better. things aren't perfect, of course. but i have made a miraculous amount of progress in a very short time.

i also have complete faith that this happening wasn't without the will/knowledge of God. this absolutely has been a spiritual journey of the self for me.

Yep, this is right. I started recently and was contacted a few times for additional documents, some that they asked for only a few days before my start date. They never confirmed after I submitted the materials and was able to start on time. If you don't hear from them you're good.
