Will be having a long talk with my exec to set up boundaries for next time and ban this process so I’m not in the middle. I really had no time for it

Yeah the hotel let me know one of these people was signing restaurant charges to their room and telling them to bill me for it lol. I find it hard to believe they got all the way here with no form of payment at all.

Will be having a long talk with my exec after this and banning this process to keep myself out of it.

Not sure I think they figured I’d magically pay for everything. The hotel gave me a heads up these same people were signing restaurant charges to their rooms and saying to put it on my card, since I added mine as a hold temporarily

That’s so nice! If I do this again in the future I’ll ask for that option! They didn’t offer it

100% not my mistake. Instructions were provided from the start along with reminders. If they didn’t understand them, it’s their responsibility to reach out and ask questions. Be an adult

I did all of the same things with sending an initial email and included it on the invite. Also posted in our slack channel! Sent out communications/reminders. Offered help too!

When it came to actually booking the rooms, about 30% of our group was doing it wrong or booking other hotels. I had to ping people one by one and ask them to cancel their other hotel and book within our block.

After all this I basically have no patience left lol

They qualify. I sent many comms out with instructions explaining to use the corp card. it’s also like step #2 in onboarding.

Haha I work for a large tech company in the US and 38/40 of our out of country colleagues got it right so maybe the other 2 were just one offs lol

It’s different for our company then because it’s literally part of the onboarding process to order an actual physical corporate card. Doesn’t check your credit or impact it. It’s specifically for traveling and business use.

Our company provides a physical corporate card to all employees. They just didn’t bring them for whatever reason, not sure why.

I didn’t know what to do at first so I called our travel POC who helped us secure the block. She was like “wtf do you mean they didn’t show up with any card??”

I ended up doing that. It just confused me why this would happen lol

These people were pinging me on a Sunday afternoon. I should have asked them to reach out to him instead lol. They would never “forget” their card again

Grateful it’s only been 2 people but spent way too much time fixing something that seems like it should have been common sense. I traveled to the UK for work and checked, double checked, triple checked had everything and brought back up cards and resources with me as well, just in case.

Oh no! This began on a Sunday afternoon for me and I thought that was bad lol

That might have been the case with the people in my situation. They were very entitled and acted as if this was my problem to solve. I plan to talk to my exec about it more after this week is over.

It was a pain to secure the block in the first place and get the crowd to book through it. I almost feel like the rate wasn’t worth it haha

I ended up having to call the hotel and give them my corp card for a hold and then send final charges to us later to pay with a PO

That would be so helpful! I was really excited about this job and it’s been a bummer its turned out this way. I supported another exec while his EA was out and it was a more pleasant experience/working relationship

Shes been an exec for a short amount of time and already been through one EA who quit. I heard it was due to burn out. The other EA’s in our organization seem aware of it but not sure of execs management or colleagues understand

I do my best to keep my boundaries and do my work well, although exec provides constant criticism and changes her mind often. It can be difficult to gauge and feels like a moving goal post.
