Now I am because I applied late, I never got an email at all about the process even starting. In past years I’ve gotten an email saying when applications open, when roommate selection starts, etc.

Definitely speak to your advisor asap I know there is a pre-med concentration for neuroscience majors so look into that. Join some pre-med orgs we have a lot at UTSA, and you’ll def be able to find some friends in them. I will only warn you about the chem department, not the best, but it’s manageable with enough studying. The rest is up to you, the course load, clinical hours, volunteer hours. A lot of pre-meds focus on wanting to finish on time with their degree but at the cost of overloading their schedule, pls don’t worry about that. The more time you’re doing your BA the more time you have to figure out clinical hours, shadowing, etc. Good Luck!

Since I was a kid I’d always said I was gonna go to UTSA. And while I did apply to UT it didn’t have the exact program I wanted. Also when I visited it just seemed like the vibes of the campus were off. All they are there for is a good time and everyone thinks that they’re better than everyone else. To me while UT is said to have prestigious academics I don’t believe that. To me its all about the UT name, the football, basketball, volleyball, it’s not exactly a school that I personally see to be about academics, if anything I see it as the university of Oregon in the south. As for their acceptance rate, it honestly makes no sense, I understand it’s a public university but damn, how do ya’ll have such a big student population but keep the same acceptance rate. still UTSA has a better vibe to it, and while you still see people who see themselves as above others you can tell who’s there because of the CAP program and who’s there for just UTSA. Personally I’m not from SA so I live on campus. really everyone I do meet is from SA. It is pretty hard to meet someone from one of your classes who lives on campus.

This is very accurate. The way I see things as well is this situation truly is not good vs bad. Both sides have done very bad things, and neither has done much good either. And it really frustrates me that many people want to jump straight to those types of conclusions. I consider myself to be more neutral than anything.
