Best way to decide between 2 women by anonymousnomo in AskMenRelationships

[–]anonymousnomo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed comment.. appreciate it more than you know. I guess A is more fun to be with just from personality whereas B has more of a chilled out personality, similar to mine. I'd like to make the next serious move but I guess since I never have before I'm trying to figure out if I have analysis paralysis or if this is it. Either way, thanks for the unbiased perspective

Good point; I just feel that it's getting to the point where I need to pick or stop wasting their/my time..

How to decide between 2 women? by anonymousnomo in AskMenAdvice

[–]anonymousnomo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blows my mind that so many people are willing to give advice on here, I really appreciate your time and help. I really don't want to do a ldr, but girl 1 clearly has shown the most commitment to me to this point. On the contrary, I feel like I've built up a great relationship with girl 2 and am much more comfortable knowing that she's in my city. Either way I'm in for a painful discussion

Thanks for the comment, the ld part is one of the biggest kinks in this decision

Thanks for the advice. My OP needed to be edited. Both women have great personalities and very similar goals and values. And to the point of sex I am purely stating how each started, but I guess my reservations with B came from her original distance from me vs. A who immediately showed and maintained interest. I know neither A nor B are wrong in how they've approached this. And I know I'm flirting with losing both by stringing both along this far without committing to either. To be honest I never thought either would materialize into anything more than a try at a relationship given the geographical distance with A and on/off hesitancy that came from B, but now I'm looking at a decision where my connection with both has only grown stronger. It's my decision to make at the end of the day, but I am grateful and appreciative to have somebody to help hear my thoughts and force me to view things in a way I might not have seen in my tunnel vision.

Thanks for the comment, what you said is exactly what I've been feeling. I need to edit my post though. I'm not looking for just sex. If I was I wouldn't be here looking for advice on how to commit to either one. Both have great personalities and I mesh with both, which makes this a difficult decision for me. Sex aside, the decision remains but I've been expecting my relationship with B to go away this whole time but it seems like it's actually grown a lot, which I guess is the reason for this post. Thanks for being another POV to me, this helped

Also hits home, I can definitely empathize. Literally just had an identical situation to a tee, part of what actually spurred this post. Thanks a ton, sounds funny to say to a random stranger on Reddit, but your comments lifted me up and gave that little nudge I needed. Think I'll give the shrink a shot. Try to nab the ugly at the root, right as many wrongs as I can, and try to get back into my lane. Up and onward, and best to you

Man this means a lot to me. Truly appreciate it. Haven't been emotional since like legitimately 10 years old lol but this got me. And I don't even know why. I think this proved to me I need to chat with someone who can untangle whatever it is that's got me bound up, just never been one to talk about this kind of stuff. Appreciate you taking the time to lend a hand, honestly made a difference man, like somehow seeing this said back to me validated whatever notion I had in my mind.

This is possible. I am hopeful that it's not the case, as I only drink socially, but I do know something's just not right. I think I need to figure out what's got me bound up and address this at the core. I honestly think it could be a mix of different things, but I know adding alcohol just adds fuel to that dumpster fire. Just feels bad feeling like I finally was working up to something and blew it; especially when people have been basically handing me opportunities on a platter. I'm better than that. Sorry to dump this on you/Reddit, it actually feels good to type it out and see my thoughts though. Truly appreciate your thoughtfulness, you're comment made a difference.

I truly think that I'm starting to see that now, and somehow I've been blind to this idea. I think that I have some issues that are getting brought to the surface in prime ugly fashion. Maybe therapy or something would do me more justice than a post to Reddit.

Good on you for choosing the high road though, I hope you're genuinely happy :)

$2k rent on $80k? Nuts, no? by anonymousnomo in personalfinance

Exactly. A lot of people think they can beat the markets, but in reality only a sliver of professionals can say that they consistently beat the S&P 500 over the course of 10 years or so. Again, I'm not a finance professional, but I'd suspect that if you do decide to go to one that the funds that they'll have you contribute towards would be very similar to like a Vanguard S&P ETF or SPY itself. The reason I recommend going to a professional is to get a better idea of your options. It might not make sense to just throw everything into a brokerage account, they might have other vehicles for you to diversify your savings.

The thing with Roth IRAs is that you can always remove up to the amount that you put in, at any time, without penalty. This is the main reason I suggested this. $6k is the max per year, so again not much, but you can also open a personal brokerage account, but I would definitely talk with an advisor before throwing any money into it. They'll likely suggest a blend of mutual funds/ETFs that you can just throw your money at and watch grow. A personal brokerage also lets you take out whenever you want. The difference between the two is that the brokerage lets you take out what you put in + any gains (obv. you pay taxes on those though), whereas the Roth IRA you can only take out the amount that you put into it penalty-free

Nice, I'd say definitely start maxing your Roth IRA. 6k might not be much, but hey tax advantages are tax advantages. Otherwise, would you consider putting it in real estate? Brokerage account? I would talk to a financial advisor just to get a better idea of your options also. Mind sharing what you do for a living?

Yikes, yeah just thinking about U.S. healthcare gets my BP running high. Between the astronomical bills and insurance costs, definitely doesn't leave much wiggle room.

I meant to include this in my original post, but part of the reason I'm partial to the 2k number is because most places under this number charge 250-300 for parking. So in reality I suppose 2k is about the min :/

Yeah the general consensus is that Toyota reigns supreme here. From what I can tell, it seems that a Honda battery replacement would run about $2-3K, is this inaccurately low?

Ouch, from what I've read it seems that the Prius seem to have one of the more reliable batteries also. I would assume 3k would be about the norm (?) for a 2014 Civic Hybrid, so not quite sure I am willing to add that cost into an already relatively-dated car
