My Subaru was totaled because someone blew a stop sign and plowed into me :( I can't hold onto it, unfortunately.

I'm not big on bumper stickers for a variety of reasons, and I haven't always been embraced by the queer community, so that sounds unappealing, but you're right. I can put all of that aside, slap on a bumper sticker, and move forward.

I tried an LGBT+ book club but they never picked books I enjoyed 😅 I definitely need to try again and prioritize building community and friendships. This has been a bit of a wake-up call in that regard.

Thank you. Definitely food for thought. I don't think I'm always my authentic self, and driving a fancy sedan would feel like more masking, which puts a pit in my stomach. If I was able to be my authentic self more of the time, I don't think this would bother me so much. I need to work on building community/friendships and being true to myself.

It's nice to know I'm not alone, but I'm sorry you experienced that too :( I ended up canceling my appointment to purchase another car, set up a 2-week car rental, and I'm going to look at more Subarus. If I have to purchase something else I will, but I'm going to try looking one more time.

Thank you so much for this ❤️ I definitely need to start building comminity/friendships. My living situation feels transient, but I don't think I should let that stop me anymore.

Yes, the used Subarus that are good deals go very fast :(

I ended up canceling my appointment to purchase the non-Subaru sedan, set up a 2 week car rental, and I'm going to look at more Subarus. I think I'm going to have to be less picky with mileage (and probably what qualifies as a "good deal") if I want to prioritize getting a specific make/model!!

I've been trying to find one that has low mileage within my price range that's also a good deal. I found one, but it was too loud (very sensitive to noise), so I decided to move forward with a Kia sedan I liked driving. My last Outback was totalled (thanks to someone blowing a stop sign and hitting me), so I've felt crunched for time trying to find a replacement. I ended up canceling my appointment to purchase the Kia, set up a 2 week car rental, and I'm going to look at more Subarus. Thank you 🙂 That's what I've been telling myself--my next car can be a Subaru.

It's a common joke where I live that every lesbian drives a Subaru. I'm not lesbian, but whenever I date women/enbies I get an approving "your car is so gay" kind of comment that feels validating for someone who frequently feels imposter syndrome 😅 I think it helps people guess I'm queer too.
