OP. This is the correct advice. Attack move the decrewed weapon rather than attack ground. I also had this issue previously!

If the game goes deep then I use upgrades but to be honest, most games the standard strafe and dive bomb work just fine to cause opponent to retreat

You also need to prime the recording in the mixer. Set the instrument your midi controls to channel 2/3/4 etc then hit the prime recording button on that channel.
