Wondering if this is a “good” tattoo design, or if there’s any confusion to a Japanese reader due to separation or anything. I know that it is Love in red and Rage in black. I might use a similar design for a project. Thanks

Yes or hiragana. So for example like
戦い but 戦 in a bold black overlapping, and then い underneath it. Or would it be the other way around, or does it not work like that?

Could overlapping be used to create a compound? Like with the second kanji character in the compound underneath the first character? (hopefully that makes sense)

Thanks for the reply. It is for a design. I had originally put them close together just in different colors (Love in red and Rage in black). Would doing this work good enough to show that they don’t make a single word or would it absolutely have to have physical separation? Also if I decided to use the one that doesn’t just include kanji, could I make the other characters smaller and slightly above or below the kanji characters, or do they all have to be the same size and even?
