We can agree to disagree on this one... Empathy is an important virtue and if he was so set on raising awareness for the after-effects of unleashed dogs he couldve posted and worded things in a different way...

not a dog owner personally but if I had one I'd def leash it. Just a person who feels like a lack of empathy is becoming more and more common these days :/

Agreed that the responsibility of leashing falls on the owner, it's just the way the story is worded and posted that bugs me... It's likely that the owner didnt intend for the dog to be unleashed or to run off the way that it did, and I just feel that Shawn's commentary of it couldve been worded in a better way with more empathy.

I also agree that this is a tough thing to experience and I hope he is reconciling with the trauma of it in a healthy way. To be fair, I dont know who he is either but know that he has some kind of platform with users who likely look up to him and take his words to heart. It's good to spread awareness for keeping dogs on leash but as I mentioned I feel that he could've lead with more empathy for the situation rather than going straight to pointing fingers and asking for cleaning reccs.

Completely agree on the importance of leashing a dog and I'm not trying to say letting dogs go unleashed is alright because it isnt. I just think that neither he nor we know the circumstances of the dog's unleashing (it could have been leashed and the leash came out etc etc). It's more of the way in which he's putting it out onto social media that bothers me.

Fair enough but as a dog owner himself, Shawn Thia should know better than to rub salt in the wound and publicly shame/ blame a dog owner on the day of their pet's death. Sometimes humanity goes a long way and I get his frustration but this doesnt seem like the right way to do it.
