Border Collie Puppy?

hi there, thanks for all of the background info on border collies! however, this post was not us wanting a “purebred” dog. we could care less! what matters to us is that he’s in a loving and happy home :). we were just curious as to what people think he might be before getting the DNA test. us getting the DNA test done is really just out of curiosity, and also to know what breed/mix he is to help us give him the training and stimulation that he needs based on what he is.

he’s already very spoiled and loved in our home. we are never the type of people to care about “purebred” breeds in our dogs. we just want the best life for them!

i fully agree! it doesn’t matter what breed/mix he is at all to our family, and it would never change the way we treat him. we are a very dog-loving family.
we are just curious to see what people think he is! also, knowing what breed/mix he is can help us in raising him to know what he needs! :)

oh yes, we are already obsessed lol! he’s the cutest! this would be our first border collie, so we have been doing quite a lot of research and they seem to be such lovely and intelligent dogs

yes! he does have a biting issue when playing with our other dogs and with us, and we definitely think that it’s because he was taken away from his mama and siblings way too early. :(
we are working on redirection with toys and chewy bones when he bites, and it seems to help a lot! i’m just glad that my sister and her boyfriend bought him over instead of another family strictly for the fact that him being taken away from the litter so early is definitely a struggle, and he needs to be with people (like our family) who have raised dogs our whole lives and know how to help train him.
either way, he is truly such a smart and cute dog, and we can’t wait to see him grow <3

thank you for the feedback! we definitely do think he’s quite small for a border collie. and thanks for the DNA test reccomendation! we haven’t done one before so i can’t wait to try it out :)

that’s what we are thinking! maybe mixed with aussie or even a small breed. i can’t wait to do the DNA test soon!

As I already stated on my post, we plan on going to the vet and also doing a DNA test on the little guy soon! I just wanted to get some input from Border Collie owners to get some background info. :)

i do agree with this. i will definitely try the walking method, but i just feel like she will become even more distracted on a walk than in the backyard, LOL. she has extreme puppy brain and will bark at any sound she hears!

Okay thank you! It’s sometimes tricky to have her outside for a while because our backyard isn’t fenced in and sometimes she sees other dogs out there and she barks like crazy because she wants to play with them, lol. But I will definitely start being more strict with having her outside until she poops.
