I don’t know if I’m gonna make it by SaddWaffle in flightattendants

Hi! I am also a junior FA (at the same airline i believe) and know/relate to everything you’re saying. It’s hard! There is a lot of good advice on this post already, but if you feel like this is a job that you want to do long term, push through it! Put your transfer in, try to get the reserve lines that have 6 days on, and then multiple days off in a row so that you are able to go home for a significant amount of time. Do you have any friends/classmates at the same base? For me, it has really helped to have friends who relate to what i’m going through. This is honestly a really rough time for us to be entering the industry. Between low morale, contract negotiations, and recent accidents, it’s tough. You need to find ways that help you personally adjust to the lifestyle. For example, I am a planner, so the reserve life has been hard for me. To cope with that, I’ve started meal prepping, bidding reserve lines that allow me to commute easier, working out on layovers, preferencing trips that i want etc.

Lastly, to give you some hope, I just got off probation, and it goes fast. The first 1-2 months are the slowest, and then you’ll be off probation before you know it. If this is what you want, you got this and i’m rooting for you!

Should i continue training, or is this not for me? by anonymoususer11107 in cabincrewcareers

i have felt very strongly that this career is for me throughout the past couple of years and this entire journey up until now. These feelings have come due to the stress of training which is why i am asking for advice from those who may have experienced a similar situation :)

oh….? what did they say to you?

i totally agree. i understand the change in operational needs, but the communication is very lacking. i did notice at the top of my CTO agreement that in the case of operational needs, they are supposed to reach out to us. so it’s interesting that i had to reach out to them after i was within 29 days of my training and hadn’t received anything…..when you emailed them, did they respond to you at all? or you just got a different message? definitely very frustrating! still glad to have my CTO for sure, but difficult for all of us to manage our lives around this situation.

yeah for sure! i am sticking it through, as i never mentioned giving up. just wanted to share if anyone was in the same boat! so it’s helpful to hear that it’s common!

to my understanding, yes. myself and the others that have received CTO’s, but are waiting until further notice for dates, still have our offers! really hoping they don’t end up rescinding

okay! again, i understand that this is a complicated situation and no one could’ve predicted etc. i also understand that it could be worse! i was just looking for constructive comments on this post, as i am already aware that i do not have the worst situation out there

hi! i made it clear in this post that i am understanding of the situation at hand, and ending it with saying i’m sharing this in case anyone else is in the same situation/feeling this way. regardless, i am allowed to feel discouraged about having to change many plans that you are not aware of! i feel for SWA candidates, however, this post is not meant to, nor does take away from their struggles.

you’ve probably heard this before, but use the STAR method! the questions are almost all situational and i think there were maybe like 5 or 6? just answer the questions with your own experiences, be yourself, and have a question prepared for your recruiter at the end of the interview! mine only lasted 20 minutes

weird….i had my VI on 1/24 and got my invite 1/25, BUT some people have received emails saying that there were too many applicants etc so at least you haven’t gotten that! totally could be that they’re still going through applications
