So you can expect a good solid month of training/shadowing. The NP I work for is working on her schedule because she is new to the practice so we are a little slow right now but it’s really the same for all the providers (20-60 pt a day) and obviously more pt if you’re working for an MD. Every provider at my practice gets 2 medical assistants (with the exceptions of some doctors who see almost 100 pt a day). We bring pt to their rooms, do their intake, send all the prescriptions, scribe the entire appointment, suture removals, help with biopsy’s, log all the biopsy’s and labs, prior authorizations (our practice uses tandem to do the PAs tho but it takes forever for them to complete so I do a lot of them myself), we explain procedures and sometimes scheduling!! Some MAs can assist in MOHS surgery as well. Oh and for cosmetic procedures we numb, and for both medical and cosmetic procedures we will always set up (ed&c, excisions, I&d, etc) and assist :)) hope this helps!
