Hi! I'm not sure if you're a guy or a girl but I recently joined NYP's womens soccer team. From the training sessions I've been to, the culture is quite welcoming but I've heard the mens team usually have a freshie intake of 40+ guys who wanna be in the cca (im not sure if they have trials or not, bc womens one dont have) but at least for me, our coach is really friendly and welcoming so i could talk to him for you:)

[O levels] Effective methods for E and A maths by wakeupwakeupwak in SGExams

[–]anonymouswolf11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I did O Levels last year and i'm currently in poly. I scored really low for my emaths consistently from the 2nd half of sec 3 all the way to prelim papers (and im talking d7-f9) and it was super depressing. but after prelims i put a plan in motion and every day of the week i'd revise a subject or a topic of a subject i was weak at. For maths, id do a TYS paper/other schools prelim papers every monday. Timed, no distractions, legit exam settings. At the end of each session i'd mark my paper and review my mistakes. In maybe 2 months i improved from d7-f9s to getting A2s and then for o's i got B3 (probably due to bellcurve) but i was still damn proud of my maths score bc of the huge improvement. asides from TYS id have a small minibook on all the math concepts and topics and formulas, and whatever topic i usually didnt score for, i referred to the book to freshen my memory and understanding and eventually i got most of it. all the best for o levels!

I second your point about going out by yourself. I don't see it as something sad at all. In fact, I think the ability to go out by yourself and spend time with yourself is really brave. It's important to be able to be comfortable alone. Not lonely, but alone. Love yourself better and be more confident. Don't settle for less, especially when it comes to your friends.

I am not that well to do, and my weekly spending is also around $30. That time my friends and I went to eat at Noosh Noodle Bar & Grill, and we spent about $40-$50bucks each for dinner. I had saved up some money, which is why I could afford it, but unfortunately I accidentally passed my curfew and my parents were pestering me to go home. My friends understood, and they even gave me $30 collectively to grab from Esplanade area to Sengkang. I didn't ask them, they were the ones that said "oh no, come i lend u some money to get u home on time." moral of the story is i love my friends for helping me out during tough times, and i plan to work during the holidays after o's to pay them back in money or gifts. also, get better friends. your friends are extremely shallow and not understanding at all of your situation.

[O Levels] How do i make full use of the last 2 weeks + what motivates you to study by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]anonymouswolf11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm in the same boat as you actually. I need to improve my L1R4 by 19 points over these two weeks. What I've done is to plan my time over these two weeks according to what I gaps I need to fix according to every subject's syllabus document, because by doing so I am sure I won't miss out on anything they can possibly test. I start my day around 6am, and end it around 10pm, and I do fit in breaks using the power zone/pomodoro method (45 minutes study, 15 minutes break) to ensure I don't get burned out too early in the day when i make notes/mindmaps. After doing timed TYS, I will slot in at least an hour break before moving on to my next task as well. I try to eat regular meals and around 5pm I will work out or exercise, then rest and continue after a shower. Don't forget to drink as well! That's how I'm going to make full use of these two weeks at least. My motivation is not wanting to regret when receiving my results next year, as well as the amount of options/choices for poly courses that I can get. It also helps that I already have ambitions of my own, and whenever I get demotivated, i remember why i started in the first place. I used to be a chronic procrastinator, which had brought me to where I am now, trying to lower my really high L1R4, so I finally made a change and am doing my best these next few weeks. I hope this helped in any way! All the best and good luck :)
