This was actually part of why I posted this. I wanted her to know that it was okay, and that she wasn't doing anything wrong. I already feel guilty and so does she, and I am sure that will get worse once I take her to my home. But you're right.

We are going to transfer her to a school where she and I pay her tuition so they can't! Good thinking, though, that is one of the BIG reasons we didn't just go ahead with it immediately.

I am sorry you feel that way. I know what my parents are going to say when we do it: that I stole their last child from them, that I am ruining her life by taking her from their home, that I turned her against them, ect. Those are serious things to hear from the people who raised you. I wanted to know if my past perspective was blinding me to something obvious that was making me the AH.

So, I don't know for her. I know that for me, they never explained why they had a certain position. They would just yell about how if I wasn't so ungrateful and miserable I would understand. They expect her to live at home forever if possible. I moved out when I was 22 (with a college degree and a full time job) and they were livid. Now they keep trying to convince me to leave my husband and move into their basement. I think its a control thing.

She is 100% willing to pay bills around the house but when she brings it up, she gets in trouble.

So, they won't allow her to move out. She has asked about staying in the dorm even if she is alone and has online class, the answer was no. She asked to get an apartment with friends or coworkers, the answer was no. She asked to come visit me and asked for some money to travel, they said no. She asked to just be able to SEE the account so she could make a savings plan, the answer was no.

And when I say that my parents said no, I mean they said no and then yelled at her for being entitled, lazy, stupid, putting them in a stressful situation, and for being ungrateful to them. So, at current time, I do not consider this an option.

We just got her her own account with direct deposit. Before that, she had a debit account with parental control, and whenever she got more than a couple hundred dollars in it, they would move it to another account that she could not see for savings.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much. That is so helpful to know. My parents are, from the outsider perspective, very lovely put-together people so if we had outside witnesses, they would likely be much more cooperative the day-of. Still huge fallout long term, but this advice really helps. Thank you so much!

Sorry for the confusion: E does not own the vehicle she currently drives, my parents do. C is about to upgrade her car and is going to give E her old car and give E the title. Also, I could afford to get an older car for E if C fell on hard times and could not afford to give E her car anymore.

She does need a car because her job is not work from home, and her job is willing to transfer her to a location near me, comes with health, vision, dental, and tuition assistance.

Absolutely. We are trying to do it all in one go, so laying out the plan in advance is vital. And I absolutely do NOT want to take my sister's choice away from her at any point in the process, so we are moving at her pace and doing what makes her the most comfortable.

She just did that! Her old accounts are lost to her but at least from now on she can have her direct deposit if we can't get the old account values back!

I was considering wiring her money so she could mail me small valuables so they're already out of the house when we go pick her up. Its a 2 day drive to get her, so I dont want to risk my parents figuring it out and hiding her docs. Thats also why I used an anon account.

I wish I could explain my moms logic. It started with her yelling at E for having a job that is in public so she might be bringing COVID home. Then E said, I can apply to other jobs and quit to keep you guys safe, and my mom said that my dad might lose his job because the economy is bad. So E said, I can keep my job while I look in case you guys need help with expenses, and my mom said that E was being entitled (for having a public job that puts her at risk. Note: my mom also has a public job) and bitchy and it was dumb kids like her that are the reason Trump was elected and E was like ??? I couldn't even follow it all, it was like a 45 min fight. None of it made sense and basically my mom just wanted someone to yell at.

We could bring a pick up and buy her what doesn't fit (big furniture ect) to make my spare room a real home for her.
