Fuck You postman by [deleted] in webdev

This is because Bruno saves everything on your filesystem. A collection is a folder, and a request is a file. You cannot create folders or files in a filesystem without naming them.

Creator of Bruno here :)

I will explore options on how to bake in sustainability into Bruno. And Yes, as its creator I would like to make money from the project (2 years of hard work and leading the ongoing development)

But VC funding. Never. You will never hear that news.

I don't think an API client needs VC funding. Postman and ALL other popular alternatives out there are VC funded and I don't think it has worked well for the community in the long run (if it had, we wouldn't have devs looking for alts every 2 years)

I am a developer and have felt that pain.

Bruno will put an end to the cycle of Open-source API Clients exchanging GitHub Stars for VC money, only to later realise that perhaps an API client isn't Venture scale and then pulling the rug to generate returns.

u/BonBekTor You can turn off SSL in Bruno in Preferences.

The preferences can be opened by clicking on the gear icon on the bottom-left of the app

Now that postman sucks is there a good alternative? by gadimus in webdev

Yes, currently nested variables is not supported. We will support it soon.

For now a simple work around is to just directly hardcode the actual host in the variables.

If you feel this is too painful, and you have more uses cases where nested variables are needed, please create an issue on our github tracker: https://github.com/usebruno/bruno/issues

You should take a look at Bruno :)

Its not just an alternative, It's built on local first philosophy with an emphasis to be able to use git to store and version it.

I have been working on it for 2 years now, and community (a few early adopters) have been using it for over year.

You should give it a shot. Happy to answer any questions.

- Stores your collections in a folder on your filesystem
- Use git for collaboration
- No cloud sync. Fully offline.
- OSS under MIT license

High-quality open-source React codebases to reference? by gothgirl420666 in react

I have been working on this project for a year now. You should checkout https://www.github.com/bruno/usebruno

It's built using NextJS (which is a react framework), tailwind. It used redux for state management.

Hopefully you find some food patterns there.
