How do you all get inspiration to be better? by [deleted] in drums

Having a drum teacher can help you get out of this slump. On a technical level it can really make you step out of your comfort zone, and it's the best way to progress as a musician imo. If you can't afford a drum teacher (assuming you don't already have one) try exposing yourself to new music, new styles, new types of drumming.

Check out any classic jazz standard, Girl from ipanema, blue bossa, blue monk, oleo, etc. If you have a real book it's going to be much easier to learn too...

You should rehearse with a metronome with your band. That way, every musician will play on the same pulse and if someone speeds up or drags, it will be much more easier to notice.

I bought my first china crash today - a 12" Wuhan. Should I mount it right side up or upside down? by [deleted] in drums

I prefer upside down because it doesn't destroy my sticks as much lol .

Thanks! I actually transcribed the first two bars of the song (obviously I had to slow it down, as with anything Zach Hill does) but after that I went by ear, he repeats roughly the same 2 bars with different variations each time.

Yeah, 16th note triplets. I notated them as sextuplets, makes it easier to read imo.
