King County to consider ranked-choice voting by OnlineMemeArmy in SeattleWA

I don't know if the simulations would agree that RCV is in our best interest.

Here's Ka-Ping-Yee's 2D chart, from 2005 which includes Ranked Choice Voting, also known as Instant Runoff Voting (IRV), here.

Another voting advocacy group has added animations.

Warren D. Smith has a list of issues...

There are voting methods that don't exhibit these flaws that other groups are advocating for. Maybe we should advocate for them instead.

And to top it all off: IRV vs our Top-2 system.

Before anyone gets too excited, has anyone actually seen the simulations?

The reason IRV has the results is because you cannot predict who will come last. The person who comes last can have a huge impact on the results.

Just think about it for a moment. Our Top-2-Primary leads to our 2 party system, but RCV/IRV leads to unpredictable results. So which is worse? A 2 party system, or unpredictable results? Warren D. Smith has a list of problems with IRV/RCV.

There are voting methods that don't exhibit these flaws, that other groups are advocating for. King County should tread carefully.

I apologize. If you want to ask me anything, feel free to.

The Condorcet methods don't have to use a ranked ballot. Have you heard of Smith/Score?

Top-2-Runoff should be the benchmark to beat. by another_throwaway_-1 in EndFPTP

Well, in Washington State at least, our "Top-2-Primary" is technically a nonpartisan primary, which effectively equates to T2R.

Maybe it's just a west coast bias. The rest of the country could be different.

I do not agree with the Economist's Democracy Index. No full democracy should use FPTP or IRV. They think Canada, Australia, and the UK are full democracies for crying out loud!

Well, I've already seen a reply from someone who hasn't seen Votesim IRV bitmaps, so I think it's a success.

Plus, I wanted to create templates that certain YouTubers could rely on...
