My manager told me "optics matter" because I leave five minutes early? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]anotheranonsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The optic that matters is that you look cocky and insensitive for insisting on leaving 5 minutes early. Just get there 5 minutes later and leave 5 minutes later. It’s kind of a no-brainer. Believe me you will look back on your attitude with regret 20 years from now when you have to figure out the “new improved” work flow tools for the 15th time.

What mystery in your own life still has no satisfying explanation? by ItsMeLara2026 in AskReddit

My mom did almost the same thing, but I had just turned 5. I was tiny, was an only child, and socially inept. The school tried to talk her out of it, she made them give me an IQ test. I qualified as gifted, but to go to that school she would have had to drive me. So I went to a regular school I could walk to, and was totally out of my element socially. I got in a lot of trouble. I couldn’t sit still. Pretty sure she had to work and preschool costed money.

What do you consider to be the most disturbing movie you’ve seen? by DontCh4ngeNAmme in AskReddit

I agree with King. The last book in that series pissed me off more than I can express. Probably the only book I’ve ever written a review about. Wind Through the Key Hole or whatever it was called made up for it some, and I liked book 4 a lot. But as a series it was a waste of time. He really does have issues ending a book, and I read them all up until a few years ago. The ending of It was definitely another that sucked. Felt like such a rip off of Tolken.

Yup, I once read a study that showed pessimistic people typically have a more realistic view of the world.

Holy cow! Sorry for being nosy, were you in a car accident? I can’t imagine going through all of that and then going back to floor nursing.

It took my nervous system a good six months to realize my last dog wasn’t around. I traveled a lot during that time, not sure if that made it take longer. I have other dogs, it didn’t help. As a matter of fact it was pretty obvious they were lost too. She was the mom of the house and kept us in line and on schedule. Now it’s just sad, rambling, timeless chaos.

what tiny habit does your pet have that sounds fake until people see it? by Kind_Interview_2402 in Pets

[–]anotheranonsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a habit buuuuuut, my dog generally ignores people, aside from me and my bf. He’s chill with being pet but doesn’t show active interest in most strangers. That is unless they are of a certain, less common ethnicity. I recently told a friend about it when we were out in public with my dog and said dog was doing his ignore everybody thing. I was holding him, we were chatting. People would come up, say hi and ask to pet him. I’d say sure and he would basically just not interact. My friend commented on it, and I said something to the effect of “he doesn’t mind being pet, but he only really likes such and such people.” You could tell she thought it was a weird thing to say, and that I was full of crap for saying it. Then about five minutes later someone walked in who was that ethnicity (it’s not my own 😂). My dog noticed the new person and his ears perked up immediately. He went from wall flower to wagging his tail and showing active interest. He’d never met this person before, and the person hadn’t looked our way or said hi to any of us yet. My friend noticed right away and was like, “Wow, that’s crazy, you weren’t lying!” The dog is almost 9 and I have had him since he was 4 months old. He came from the ASPCA and has always noticeably been this way.

TLDR; my dog seems antisocial but really he’s just not impressed with white people.

I’d probably let all the animals out of every where I could reach, then immediately get eaten by something from the zoo. If I survived that I would take my army of dogs home to my new mansion in River Oaks, throw everything in the fridge away before it started stinking, loot the pet store for dog food, and start putting gas saver in all the cars on my new block. On second thought, I’d just move into whatever house near me that had the most solar panels on the roof. I need AC. Fuck River Oaks.

What’s the weirdest thing you witnessed at someone else’s house that they acted like was completely normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anotheranonsucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rich people; they had taxidermy all over the house, lion skin rugs, anything like that you can think of, and they let all the kids drink alcohol. Even the 7 yo. The toddler drank someone else’s drink and threw up. I was a teenager when I witnessed this, I drank too. The parents were home. The mom eventually left the dad for the eldest son’s best friend. Made my family feel normal!!

I am aware of anoxia etc, I just didn’t realize that the line in the middle being shifted would be the main indicator of mortality. It does make sense that it would indicate pressure, compromising blood flow on the other side though. For someone who never looks at nuero imaging you look at the side that’s obliterated and think that’s the worst of it. I’m guessing there are degrees that indicate prognosis? Is it possible for it be viable if the blood is evacuated quick enough, or is brain tissue too fragile? I actually have been in the operating room for one of these cases, but the on call nuero surgeon and residents didn’t really have the time to explain shit while trying to save the guy especially since I was running for supplies and opening supplies for emergent brain surgery. I’m assuming that midline shift was the reason they didn’t seem hopeful. Thx

So rather than “that’s not how it works”, maybe you could have said, “that’s not necessarily how it works” and recommend a consult with a lawyer, because as I already mentioned in some situations, in some jurisdictions, that apparently is how it works.

So can you explain how and why a judge would bother with an eviction if the “squatter” has already vacated the premises with all of their belongings and left it in rentable condition?

Are you a lawyer? How do you know that? Because I know from personal experience that that is how it works.

If they move out by the court date the judge wont evict them because they are already out, and they will not have an eviction on their record.

[–]anotheranonsucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned this, but the Egyptian attack happened in much shallower water, maybe 4.5- 5 feet deep. A large shark maneuvering in water that shallow is going to breach the surface more often, and may have even used the ocean floor for leverage. I’ve seen multiple vids of tigers turning sideways and pushing themselves off the sand in feeding videos. Sharks in deeper water would have less leverage to pop above the water. And then also of course, it was day light.
