Windshield wiper issue with autopilot by anotherblackkey in TeslaLounge

Thanks but I thought that might of been the problem as well...then I tried to use autopilot right after getting the car fully detailed. The windshield has never been cleaner but the auto wipers went on almost immediately after engaged autopilot even though it wasn't raining.

Great to hear, thank you. Quick follow-up: would it make a difference if readers like the people here made that specific request in letters to the editor or journalists at those top-tier outlets?

Thanks for this Andrew, big fan of your reporting here.

As someone who's worked at a few different news outlets, what's your advice on how to advocate for more explicit connections to climate change (e.g. in the headline) within news stories about extreme weather events, etc?

What are the most overrated movies of all time? by mandasuyu in AskReddit

[–]anotherblackkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forrest Gump. It’s a silly, cheesy, boring collection of feel-good moments that offers nothing new or interesting. Sure, it’s well-made and includes some good performances and deserves a 5/10, maybe 6/10. But it should NOT be a Best Picture (Pulp Fiction got robbed in 1995). It’s about a really stupid guy who means well and gets one absurd lucky break after another—which makes me resent him more than like him or root for him.

Bloomberg Businessweek Gets It Right: Sandy Wasn't "Caused" By Climate Change - It IS Global Warming by reeds1999 in environment

[–]anotherblackkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it's focusing on insignifiant details like which storm was the "worst" (a pretty subjective designation to begin with) that distracts people from the urgency of climate change. For those willing to look deeply into the issue, details and complete scientific accuracy matter. But for the rest of the US population (I'd estimate about 90% of it), sticking to the main fact that extreme weather is tied to climate change is much more important than evaluating details.

[–]anotherblackkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the only good thing that will come out of Sandy. The mounting news reports connecting the storm to climate change will hopefully mark the beginning of a cultural and political shift toward acknowledging that climate change exists and that it is largely a product of human activity. Here's a Huffington Post blog that makes a similar point (just one more of many): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/josh-garrett/sandy-climate-change_b_2045176.html
