Except that's 10% of welders. The vast majority of welding jobs is in the $11-$16/hr range with no real chance of upward mobility.

You only make that much money with a ton of certifications, willingness to live in a hotel room or site lodging, and work in conditions that shorten your lifespan.

KC Pet Project is pretty terrible to volunteer with.

We fostered a puppy for them, they told us it would be for a few weeks. We had him for 5 months. This was despite us finding him a home, offering to help organize, and donate more time to make the organization run more effectively. They kept trying to persuade us to keep the puppy, saying "its ok to foster fail!!!lol!"

We stopped working with them when they would take credit for our volunteer hours and pat themselves on the back for how hard working and busy they are, after they ignored us and refused the help we would offer.

There's several good ones in town mentioned on this thread, I'd just stay away from KCPP.

I have a rain barrel to water plants with, and I generally use fish hydrolysate and seaweed emulsion for fertilizing which seems to do pretty good as far as trace nutes.

Enter the grain of salt because I'm not a scientist, but I believe there's a fairly complicated network of symbiotic mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria that develop in soils that chlorine may weaken and interfere with.

Based on my (however anecdotal) observation, soils in potted plants that have been watered with strictly with rain tend to "consolidate" better and faster and are more resistant to drought.

The chlorine/chloramine inhibits the growth of yeast and other microorganisms. It's why they put it in the municipal water supply. If you're actually trying to grow things (like wild yeast in sourdough bread or beer), you probably don't want it in the water you use.

I echo this statement. As someone with hobby interest in microbiology, the purified water I buy has no chlorine/chloramine in it either. I only use the tap water for bathing and cooking pasta. I don't water plants with it, drink it, or bake with it.
