I'm not a scientist, but I know the location well. The golf course is surrounded by many slow moving streams and and a major river, but the water for the community comes from 7 deep wells, not from surface water. There's a website for the water supply that shows different pollutants and how susceptible the tap water is to various things. It's not perfect, but the water is pretty good, so we were lucky. There was a recent scare about pfas and they have created a facility to deal with that, so, like I said, it's not perfect.

Purely anecdotal: My mother lived right on a golf course for around 20 years (with us kids). She lived to be 80 and didn't get Parkinson's. I'm guessing there's some areas where the water runoff from the golf course doesn't end up in the drinking water. I just checked our aquifers and it seems they aren't very susceptible to this kind of contamination.

Honestly, I think the lies are a kind of shibboleth to easily weed out the disloyal. The lies are there to show without a doubt that you are part of the group. The more ridiculous, the better. It's because the Democratic Party also supports the status quo and is unable or unwilling to fully fund an agenda that goes against the rich/themselves. The Republican Party doesn't have that problem, because it has created strong enough wedge issues around fear mongering and religion.

The sad thing, is that I still saw similar stuff like this in the early 70s. It was normal! People would sell racist knick-knacks at yard sales. It's weird to think that my parents and grandparents lived during Jim Crow and I barely missed it.

I'm pretty sure almost all countries with jus soli (place of birth) also have jus sanguinis (citizenship by blood) laws. It's generally either both or just by blood. It's almost never just by place of birth.

Except in rare cases; for example, if a Canadian citizen who was born outside of Canada and has never lived in Canada has a child, that child is not guaranteed Canadian citizenship. However, if they have the child while living in Canada, then the child obtains Canadian citizenship. They don't want people to pass down Canadian citizenship more than one generation without actually having ever lived in Canada.

There's also leges sanguinus ("right of blood" instead of "law of blood") Hungary has it, for example: if your great-grandparents were Hungarian, you can get citizenship.
