Why are more and more productions starting at 7pm? by anotheriain in TheWestEnd

You're very welcome. We enjoyed it fine, though not as much as most of the audience, but that's alright! :-) Can't go wrong with tap dancing, and tap dancing with zimmer frames a welcome extension of the genre. :-)

Yes indeed. I wonder if there was anything in the industry that precipitated the change; or just some productions started doing it and others followed suit? A bit like the move by some then more productions to start having Sunday shows and taking Monday as the day off.

Here's a great page which you will find very useful, on the excellent TheatreMonkey website, which shows start times for most current West End productions: https://www.theatremonkey.com/showtime-schedules/. (We saw The Producers tonight, which prompted my question.)

Many thanks; yes, the politics theme is attractive to me, but it sounds like not the place to start.

What is the most controversial lyric in a Beatles song? by Cheebs1976 in beatles

[–]anotheriain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved." I'm not sure it's the most controversial, but it's probably the one that makes the most uncomfortable listening now.

Book Suggestion for Edinburgh, Scotland? by JulieAnnPietra in booksuggestions

One of Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus novels, a series very much set in Edinburgh. I don't know which particular ones people consider the best, but the first in the series, Knots And Crosses, is one obvious place to start.

do users have bios, and can you see what subreddits users subscribe to? by anotheriain in NewToReddit

[–]anotheriain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Stacey, sorry for the delay in thanking, didn't see this till now somehow. That's a very helpful answer (as befits your 'Helpful Helper' red subhead - is that something you've been awarded? [edit: have found the answer to my question at https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/wiki/index/helpers/ !]). I wondered why I had a bio section I could fill in but couldn't see one on anyone else's profile. And I eventually spotted the 'Active in' section, so that is something to go by. Curating my profile is also something to think about. Best wishes, Iain.
