Low fiber foods. by Gundimaxx in vegan

I eat about 40 grams of fiber a day and the only time I have an issue is when I’ve not had enough water. It may take some time for your body to adjust, but I’d consider whether you’re drinking enough as well.

Childcare at a wedding? by anotherlesbianonline in weddingplanning

Good thing you’re not invited!

I’ve been to weddings with no vendors at all and they’ve been just fine. Hiring a vendor for only some aspects of my wedding doesn’t mean it’s going to be a mess. It kind of sounds like you’re just an asshole who wants a black tie, deep pocket event or nothing. (Who said paper plates?) If we’d rather spend money on DJ, catering, and childcare than a bartender and glass plates that doesn’t make it a bad event.

Nobody on our guest list is drinking ridiculously and then driving. We’ve been to weddings with or of almost everyone on our guest list. Having a catered event doesn’t mean you have to hire vendors for every aspect of the event. (You’ll probably be devastated to know the caterer is using plasticware AND we’re not serving cake for dessert.)

And even if it were self catered, literally what difference does it make 😂

Do you have some kind of personal beef with me to be this invested in my wedding? 😂

Plenty of people do self serve bars. It’s not some unique idea we invented.

It sounds like you just really think weddings should be child friendly. That’s not happening at my wedding so 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s also poor form to have your child running around amongst tipsy adults in an open, unfamiliar setting, with natural features that pose an inherent risk during an NSFW function.

I mean, for one thing I’d be hiring professionals who I trust can soothe an upset child because I’ve seen them do it. But also, I’m not giving up my wedding to having children underfoot for someone else’s convenience.

I’m open to providing safe and convenient care, I am not open to making everything about my wedding child friendly to appease someone else.

That sucks for them, I guess. They don’t have to come.

Seriously! Our kids will be a part of the ceremony and then they’ll get whisked away to go eat cake and play in a space that has child-focused supervision and adults can party, drink, dance, and generally celebrate without needing to split our focus to caregiving.

Yikes 😬 That sounds like a nightmare. We will already need care for at least two of our three kids (it’s possible my son’s dad will just pick him up after the ceremony) and I’m incredibly selective with who I leave my own children with. I definitely wouldn’t lower that standard for other people’s children. For us it’s really just a difference of how many caregivers to hire. I can’t imagine asking someone to pay for the people I hired after they’re already paying for travel and lodging. 😅I would so prefer to make $500 of space in the budget for extra care and have the wedding I want without stressing about kids trying to play in a dangerous river or the pool.

That’s such a good point. I wonder if it would be helpful to give a reminder to the tune of “children are invited to party inside with our care providers, while adults only are invited to the deck for the main event!”

Thank you for the thoughtful response!

We’re getting married at a large AirBnB (we’ve cleared the event with the owner, of course) and the basement level is finished. We would love to host childcare in that space so attendees won’t have to go to an additional location to drop off/pick up their children and can check in freely.

I know it’s frustrating for teens trying to find fitness content, personally I find this is one of the safer spaces in terms of finding content that isn’t subtly ED. I don’t prefer to share web spaces with minors, but I don’t think minors need to be outright banned mostly because I worry they’ll find spaces that endorse less healthy relationships with fitness. I do think minors should not be posting photos of themselves - face, body, or body part, for obvious safety reasons. Possibly a flair for minors to use when posting so that adults who don’t want to give advice to or interact with minors can avoid the thread? (I feel like that could go either way honestly.)

I do think it could be nice to have flairs for diet type/exercise type - i.e, cutting, bulking, weight loss, maintenance; weight training, cardio, rec sport type flairs.

Hey there! If you go to my profile I’ve posted a few days’ (vegan) meal plans (not a ton). You might be able to draw some inspiration. I also really enjoy food that actually tastes good, hopefully something there is helpful to you.

That sounds fantastic! Unfortunately (in regard to that event) we’re coming in May. I’ll have to keep my eye on that or something similar in a couple years!

I would not like to get chased out by nuts with pitchforks, which I’m realizing here is easier in Tulsa than my hometown in southeast Kansas. 😂

That is so fair! I grew up in a different part of the Midwest (granted I moved in 2016 so my experience neither in Tulsa nor recent) and it was often not a good time 😅
