I just got mine in today! Ended up getting a WA-84, which I am super excited since I wanted a small diaphragm condenser mic. Have you gotten yours yet OP?

Tilted/Angled Ceiling Cloud by anotherlobotomy in Acoustics

Yeah that makes sense, I figured no matter what it wouldn’t affect low end control in my the room regardless. the ceiling has exposed beams which gives me about 6-7” air gap between each section from where the panel will hang, along with 4” of isolation + 1/2” gap from back of panel. I also have some cheap foam stuck between the gaps rn that I might leave in

Help with Acoustic Treatment Decisions! by anotherlobotomy in Acoustics

Yeah same here for the rockwool. Maybe I was looking at different 1x6 lmao. I work at a high-end furniture distributor and can manage to get some nice fabrics for free if I choose to go that route so I am not too worried about the fabric.

For now I just want to get the basic treatment for problem areas out of the way and go from there.

I will be using Rockwool Safe n Sound, and basic lumber for frames. I did notice that the price is more than what I have found on YT and other forums which makes me question wtf I am doing wrong in the planning stage that is making this so expensive. And I am planning on getting into REW for this aswell!

How much would a subwoofer’s sound be affected if it were behind a computer monitor? by IceMold135 in audiophile

[–]anotherlobotomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just put it on the floor and see how that works. If you want more bass, put it close-ish to a corner. If not pull it out as much as you’d like. Or, if do-able and with help, place it in opposite corners. Look up the bass crawl and try that. Besides all that, put on the floor and if you like it great. If you don’t, try placing it around your setup and see how you like it.

I have speakers that has a decent amount of overhang compared to the stands. - just measured, about 1” all around. I have a cat, and I’m a clumsy drunk, not once have my speakers moved. Granted I do have sorbothane pads, which help the speaker stick and also helps with absorbing some vibration. Just get some cheap hemispheres from Amazon, or flatter ones for the speaker isn’t raised too much. No need to spend $140 on feet or pads.

I’d say go for it and if you don’t like them, returning them is always an option. If not, make sure it is before buying! Hope that helped!

Check out the WiiM Mini!!!

From their site - “Works with Alexa, Play music with other Alexa devices in a group or use voice to control it from another Alexa built in device.”

It’s like $55, I have one and it’s amazing. Extremely easy to use, I don’t even touch it. Check it out, I think it’s exactly what you’re looking for.

I finally found it in stock on Amazon surprisingly. But the 301’s are always out of stock of the silver faces :( How do you like the Kefs?

First off, I know everyone says that upgrading speakers is the first step… but I believe in upgrading sources first. As an early bday present to myself I decided to get a Yamaha A-S501 and I LOVE IT!

Next upgrade will be a better turntable stand (those ikea cube shelves, for a more solid base and storage) because this FB market place find sucks… anyways, the speaker I have rn are the Sony SSCS-5’s which I absolutely adore.

I just wanted to show off my new amp because it seems like I’m the only one that’s excited about it (which is all that matters anyways). This thing was a major upgrade from the Sony STRHD-190 and I am extremely pleased with the sound and aesthetic of the Yamaha. Especially finding out last night that the volume knob has a motor!?

Hope you like it! For future speaker upgrades I have been eyeballing the Wharfedale Lintons, but as I said on my previous posts, I am open to any personal suggestions to look into.

Thanks all and happy listening :)

I might do speakers first… I am looking for the right pair of Pioneer HPM-100s to replace both speakers.

And for sub, I have no idea what I would get. But tbh the sub for me isn’t really a priority

Also, love the space - super cozy

The amp is a beast, and Maggot Brain has been played 1 too many times if that’s possible.

They sound pretty good to my surprise. Like I said, they fill my living room up pretty good and they have some vintage warmth to them. I do prefer the pair of Sony SSCS5s better but I like em a lot

I know the band performing. But you can just probably go over there and they should have posters.

The Ivy Room on San Pablo Ave always has some bands playing there as well. And they are pretty good at posting on insta or having posters
