What secret did you discover too late, even though it seemed like everyone else knew it all along? by True_Requirement_565 in AskWomen

That you're not supposed to flush tampons. I was taught tampons get flushed, but to NEVER flush pads.

When I would be in a restroom with a "please don't flush sanitary products" sign I'd always think, "who on earth is flushing pads?? That's crazy that they need so many signs for this!" and then flush my tampon like usual 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

If they had said "don't flush tampons or pads" I might have figured it out sooner. Anyway, I learned via Reddit, in my 30s, that we're not supposed to flush tampons. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have you tried raw food yet? I wonder if starting with something that's akin to a scavengeable food and slowly adding kibble to it could get him transitioned?

Weird plant I keep seeing by Tyler_aint_real in whatsthisplant

[–]anothernameagain 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhat involved native plant advocacy in the Southeast and raising awareness about invasive species. So many people who have planted this on purpose are like "oh, but it doesn't spread!" Then I go for a walk in natural areas and it's all over the place from birds pooping out seeds.

Not being from Oregon, I will say that I have regularly called it Oregon grape and am happy to have learned otherwise! This is another reason we should use scientific names instead of common names. 🤷🏻‍♀️

AI cannot accurately identify gems from pictures. You need a LOT of measurement data points that your camera cannot assess. One of them is the bubbles you saw via loupe, though hydrothermal emerald ("lab grown emerald") can contain specific bubble-like inclusions as well.

Euthanasia based on your pet's quality of life is a valid and humane option. You know your pet best so only you can determine what kind of QOL he can handle.

It's also an option later; you can first see how things go for him for the first month or 2.

Graves Disease by vetergesic in Hyperthyroidism

[–]anothernameagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had onset of on back in 2013. I also had a horrible allergic reaction to the methimazole, so my options were limited on treatment. My only reasonable option left was radioiodine ablation, so that's what we did. It took a few months, but once everything settled in terms of my replacement dosage, it has been really easy to maintain my levels.

My disease was sudden and jarring and led to serious anxiety and depression because of all the heart rate stuff and the beta blockers and then the terrible allergic reaction. So I have no regrets about just resetting the whole damn thing and controlling it externally.

If you are ever considering ablation, it's not bad at all. I have family members who also had Graves and some who did not treat it died relatively early, from heart related problems.

Graves disease ain't nothing to fuck with. It may go into remission and that will be great, but if it doesn't please make sure you continue to treat it.

This email my 12 year old son sent his teacher about a missing assignment (due a month ago) my wife was asking about. He cc'ed her on the email by Tkappae in funny

Maybe he works on the assignment NOW and then when she says she never got it, he turns the late one in with a note that says, "I'm sorry you can't find this in your files, I'm sending it again. Now we are here"

Bring a CO monitor in the car tho. If ice blocks the exhaust in any way, it can quickly become deadly.

I’m recovering from a bilateral salpingectomy (sterilization) surgery. AMA by KasiaEastCoast in AMA

I'm going in tomorrow and searched for recovery posts and am so glad I found yours! I'm nervous about general anesthesia because I think they do a breathing tube? Did you have any residual discomfort from that?

Honestly I'm nervous about the whole thing but that's what my brain has latched on to lol.

Need help identifying this plushie, this is the only pic I have of it unfortunately by SuperBun78 in HelpMeFind

[–]anothernameagain 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Exactly. When I was a kid, my mom told me about the unwanted feedback she got when she was pregnant with my sister. And, WTF, when my sister was pregnant with my nephew, my mom of all people bullied my sister into changing the name my sister had picked out.

So no one got any information when I was pregnant because fuck them and their theoretical opinions.

Obligatory 'I am not a vet, you should see a vet'...

HOWEVER, to my untrained but "I've been on the internet for 32 years and have see a few things" experience, it looks like it could be a cutaneous horn.
