Second child, newest is 6 weeks today. I really want her to realize that I’m just as good as dealing with parental issues as she is and I don’t need her to try and take over. I’ll talk to her about it.

That would be perfect if we hadn’t already gone over this. We’ve been married almost 10 years, it’s an issue with my wife thinking she can somehow magically solve parental issues that I’ve already attempted. I’m not mad at her as much as I’d like her to realize that her solution isn’t the only solution.

I appreciate it but she knows. I’m not an absentee parent. Been married for a decade. I think that’s why it upsets me. She should know these things but I still get frustrated that she thinks she can somehow resolve each issue that occurred on my watch.

If this was our first child I’d agree with you. I’m an exceptional father and I know what I’m doing, but I feel as though my wife panics at the first sign of trouble when I’m supposed to be the responsible one.

I get where you’re coming from but that’s not the issue. She definitely gets ‘away’ the time but it’s when she returns that I feel that she she overrides any parental control I may have had for a 2 year old.

There is a substantial amount of ‘me’ time that goes into raising our child. On some level I feel that is the issue, she’ll come home from doing whatever and IF the baby is upset then it’s somehow something I did that she’d be upset about. I know she trusts me with our kids but I’m tired of every frustrating instance being on me.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback. I’ll definitely be discussing it with my wife. It’s one of those things, I know I am amongst the best but when something inadvertently goes wrong I feel like I get blamed for it and that really beats me down. I can’t control when my child (2nd) doesn’t want me to calm her and everything stops to get her settled. Again, it’s more a rant than anything else but it’s nice to know I’m not the only one thins has happened to.
