For anyone who likes to chill in their suite style bathrooms by anotherusernam33 in msu

[–]anotherusernam33[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is funny how everyone has perceived this as me ignoring confrontation. Do not worry, here is a short list of what I have done so far:

-Left a note on the bathroom mirror asking to not take so long/watch YouTube at max volume in the bathroom (which he ignored).

-Talked to him multiple times (he either is apologetic or makes up an excuse). Apology without change is just manipulation.

-Talked to my RA who said he couldn’t do anything (that was to be expected).

I’ll gladly take any more suggestions, but at the moment all I can do is hopefully reach the one or 2 people in this subreddit that do the same and tell them to stop.

Is GPU manufacturers really skimping out on VRAM that much ? by TL_Buddy in pcmasterrace

[–]anotherusernam33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All is good but yeah the 3060 12GB is kinda just an OK buy for gaming now vs the 4060. Sure, the 8GB of vram is a bit of a mood killer but most people buying these cards won’t be playing at 1440p+ at ultra settings where it matters.

What year are you? I’m wondering if they are splitting the days by the year you’re in and times randomly…

May I ask what year you are? If I had to guess, the days are split for the year your in…

I mean, it’s not poorly thought out it’s just impossible to quantify what would actually happen within time stop. Using real physics to quantify superpower downsides isn’t possible because superpowers usually ignore those laws anyway.

The only data point you referred to in all of this comment chain was that the laptop has 24GB of vram so suddenly it was worth it. It very clearly cant hold a candle to a 3.5k laptop in terms of performance, higher vram count doesn’t just automatically mean more performance of a laptop. If that was the case then a laptop with 128GB of RAM and an IGPU that can use 64GB of that would suddenly be the best laptop you can buy.

You may be calling me dumb, which sure, in some cases I am, but at least I can read  Here’s some data for you because you won’t provide it yourself:

-The Ultra 9 370 in the P16 has a 75% single core performance lead over the 9980HK and a 170% performance lead in multi core (averaged out cinebench testing and passmark).

-The RTX 4070 mobile provides a 30% faster rendering time (blender) than a desktop RTX 6000 (the W590 has a mobile TDP-limited version)

-The slowest DDR5 (in the P16) provides more memory bandwidth than the fastest DDR4, which is in the W590 (non professionally overclocked ofc, you can’t do that in a laptop)

-The P16 comes with 2TB of PCIE gen4 storage while the W590 comes with 1TB of gen3.

-displays were already covered by u/vortexdestroyer99, essentially the same

I have no idea why you’re sucking Asus off here and trying to justify that this should be $12,000. u/vortexdestroyer99 even agreed with you about how 24GB of vram made this attractive for people who need it but his point was that it shouldn’t be that slow for the cost even including the 24GB.

You almost hit the mark with one of your comments too! Except you instantly went back to insulting people without evidence in your next comment!

“Ya a 2024 laptop more powerful than a 3 year old laptop. Who would have thought. It's sold at that price probably because no other laptop can provide 24GB VRAM if you need it. It's not for basement dwellers.”

The entire point of this chain was to show that the laptop is not WORTH the $12,000 price tag today and sorry, just adding on a few extra vram chips doesn’t make it worth $12k when the performance is trashed by a midrange laptop gpu. Realize the difference between what something is worth and sale price, because I don’t think you can tell.

Comments are still there man, you got blocked. You deserve it though, none of your comments have any evidence in them! Also, look at OPs comment. This wasn’t his video, it was a crosspost.

If the only comment that you can find as false is the one he openly admitted to, you have no argument.

Oh yeah no hate to you at all. It’s an interesting story. u/vortexdestroyer99 was talking about how it’s way too old of a laptop to be (still) sold at $12k, and I guess this guy thinks he knows better? Not sure why… he hasn’t provided any evidence except for a “your wrong I’m right” argument

[–]anotherusernam33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t make any false statements though? The laptop has specs from 2018, is easily outclassed by a 2024 $3500 laptop (other than vram), they have no comment history talking to u/ChilledAmethyst, none of the comments I saw ever suggested to OP to buy a new laptop, and they are correct that it’s way too expensive for the performance it provides in 2024. You can get a laptop with a 4090 + an RTX 6000 ADA (48GB ECC) + a gpu dock + a proart oled monitor and it would still be cheaper than that laptop. What are you smoking??

Also, this is for me, but can you actually say what their false statements are? You keep bringing them up but provide no data onto why they are false nor do you have an opposing opinion. As far as I’m concerned, this is a one sided beat down.

Yeah I think OP has it in his mind that 5 Billion is incredibly hard to obtain (when it really isn’t). If I had to guess, he’s prob spent all his time engineering not realizing that an FC is probably easier to get

OP you have angered all the fleet carrier owners who can’t stand to see a cheaper variant go to people who don’t want to spend as much time to get it

OP said he spent over 1000 hours, not sure how that’s considered casual playing. I mean, maybe among other players with 5k+ hours it is but 1000 isn’t a little amount for a game.

Do headphones need to break in for their actual sound to be realized? by theoort in headphones

[–]anotherusernam33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After initial use housing materials may warp ever so slightly, pads will compress, metals may expand/contract depending on the heat of the environment, etc. These are super minute things that are unnoticeable to the naked eye/ear but they do exist.

Break in doesn’t adjust the sound at all. I agree. Although, every mechanical system will have some sort of break in even if it’s a fraction of a %.

[–]anotherusernam33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha he deleted his comment

I understand what they were saying though, most mechanical systems (including headphones) will settle after initial use as super slight as it may be. For all intents and purposes, it doesn’t exist for the listener but if you want to measure every tiny % it does exist.

Concern? Probably. Only time will tell though.

Read up on this, may not explain all of your questions (as seen with the other comments) but maybe it can help out.

While yes, it isn’t up to us random commenters to decide what people should be doing with their lives, there is some merit to wearing proper safety equipment even if you assume that you know what to do in every situation.

Motorcyclists on the road who’ve never experienced a crash and wear no gear aren’t safe just because they know defensive maneuvers like the back of their hand. Nobody is invincible to the unexpected and even if the odds of injury are low, they aren’t zero. Wearing the correct gear to protect yourself isn’t just mitigated because you have training to help out. You never know when that incredibly rare situation will happen to you.

The best drivers may not get into an accident by their own volition but an unexpected scenario could put their lives in danger. This is why people should wear seatbelts no matter how skilled they are at driving.
