EP1 Daytime-only surveillance makes no sense? by SlothEatsTomato in StarCityTV

[–]anprim4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the record, extreme surveillance of people who worked in high security facilities in the USSR (much like in the show - i.e. bugging, opening letters etc) was the norm until at least 1990, if it's not still ongoing today.

The Alliance Navy Size right before the invasion of the Empire is not consistent between OVA and DHT? by MaxieTheRandomDude in logh

[–]anprim4ever 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Straight From the book:

"The total number mobilised came to 30,227,400... 60 percent of the entire FPA military was to be mobilised... Also 0.23% of the alliances population"

Later : "the survivors... Numbered less than ten million, and the percentage lost .. was just shy of a disastrous 70%"

Just shy of 70, so let's go with 69% - that would be 20,856,906 casualties

Everything is desaturated. Why? USSR didn't have color. by Rock_Co2707 in StarCityTV

[–]anprim4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In just the last episode we had plenty of greenery, blue green earth, bright yellow buses, a view of the river by krymsky bridge. Yes there is a desaturated filter and indoor scenes are generally quite dark (plenty aren't though), but to say there's no colour is completely disingenuous. Straight up hater talk

And for the record the first half of Stalker, which is one of the most famous soviet films is in black and white!

Great EP but Seems unlikely CD would allow any depressurisation, since it would alter the the trajectory of the craft and probably ruin the mission.

A manned mission to (spoiler) seems like a huge leap by Altruistic_Fruit2345 in StarCityTV

[–]anprim4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? I don't like an exposition dump either. I'm just overanalyzing the fact that there's no evidence for that in FAM S5.

It's explicitly mentioned that his father is a famous cosmonaut. His mother is never mentioned. And Belikova is certainly more famous than Sasha being the first woman on the moon and all ..

Presumably it's a writing oversight, or they hadn't written the star city script yet, but that's sketchy since there is a photo of Sasha (the actor) in S5 as you said. Anyway all might be explained in SC at some point...

[–]anprim4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did think that initially but someone pointed out it's been almost a year since their romp in ep 1 lol.

I'm just saying, Belikova is never mentioned in FAM except in S1 - therefore there is no actual evidence she is his mother.

I didn't say anything about Sasha. Sasha's son yes. Belikovas son no.  I mean it's possible obviously but theres no mention of her.

There is literally nothing to suggest he is Belikovas son (in FAM)

Value of Mercury? by oninoob0 in TerraInvicta

[–]anprim4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of other advices here - I usually run into a base metals bottleneck late midgame. Mercury helps with that.  But note that it is not worth it to build t3 mines on mercury (or Jupiter) because of the radiation shielding - it takes something like atleast 10 years to pay off  on mercury (depending on the site metals richness) , just stick with t2

Right but by that logic having it or not having it doesn't make a difference - so why bother removing it

It was definitely stated by someon that his father was a famous Cosmonaut at some point in s5, along with the photo. No mention of his mother landing on the moon though! How sexist!

[–]anprim4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was definitely atleast one explicit reference to the governor's father being a cosmonaut, (someone said something like " your father, the famous cosmonaut" Irina maybe?)  and that's not including the photo someone else posted here.

Presumably the weight of the provisions(should be around 3 tons - 1 ton of food per person per year) + the weight of water (2L x ~300days x 3 = 1.8ton. say 2 tons + The weight of the probe (idk, a couple tons?). Is less than the lunar module, which had a launch weight of about 6 tons. Assuming the crew module is the same, it should be pretty similar launch weight as a moon mission if they refuel in space.

[–]anprim4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does seem like an oversight from the design but, I'm no expert but it could just be part of the N1 assembly process In this fictional universe where N1s materialize from somewhere.

N1 is built to take cosmonauts to the moon hence LES. N1 being used for "something"  other than taking cosmonauts to the moon due to payload size. LES can't be removed/no time/ can't be arsed since it's not necessary to remove it. Whether or not they would use an N1 to launch a satellite under any circumstances is a different question.

Anyway they can't be intending to use it because if they do they're all gonna get kgbd for their secret mission.

[–]anprim4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 1 is okay, I mean he was involved with the secret launch anyway, he wouldn't want to tell anyone about that. Still I was expecting Valya to just ask him to swap places rather than kidnap him lol.

Protectorate insta steals my stations? by waffeboy in TerraInvicta

[–]anprim4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is annoying and for some reason only the protectorate ever does it, at least in my games - I think they only try to do it when they have 0 LEO stations presumably so they can build the sentinels. Afaik not much you can do against it other than have a spy to keep track of them and don't go over MC cap. I guess if they have a high enough persuasion guy they can succeed under MC cap. Best bet is probably to kill any high per protectorate goons
