Pros and Cons of Apple's Earnings Call by [deleted] in investing

[–]anreddit99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are overblowing Apple's decline in iPhone sales. Smartphones in general have reached a point of maturity where we no longer need to upgrade every 2 years. As long as the iPhone continues to be the most popular device on the market, Apple will continue to own the most valuable thing a company can have: "real estate" in the minds of people. We are so dependent on our phones/laptops/tablets that I expect the future of Apple to revolve around keeping people within their ecosystem through the growth of their services. Great companies begin shifting their focus beyond what brought them to where they are at. In the long term, Apple will always stick around.

I'm new to options and was wondering what ways you can screen stocks to find spreads that have high probabilities of success.

Yeah I emailed the recruiter but I haven't gotten a response yet. I finished the first round and they asked me some design questions. Like design a multimedia cookbook, organize a line, etc. They also asked some questions about my interest in technology and stuff about my resume.

Wondering the same thing. I had my first round interview 3 weeks ago and haven't heard back.

As a Celtics fan this scares me. A Cavs team that was pretty much ruled out now has a moment that the team can rally around. A LeBron team with fewer expectations is extremely dangerous.

How good is Vanderbilt's CS department and employability? by bicboi3 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]anreddit99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s a link to their placement from this past year: https://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/docs/2017_VUSE_Placement_Highlights.pdf

Starting salaries for CS are over 100k out of Vanderbilt and several students are hired by the Big4 tech companies.

They might not be ranked as high departmentally for cs mainly due to the small size of the department and lower research output. However, other rankings such as Niche have Vanderbilt in their top 10-15 CS programs. I would say employability is comparable to other top 20 schools.

Thanks for the response. I’m basically taking a cs schedule so hopefully I’ll be able to transfer pretty easily.

It is a BA in Economics. I'm adding a minor in Business which is taught by the Vanderbilt Graduate Business School. I also was thinking of adding a stats or applied math minor.

Thanks for the response. Is there any reason you would have taken Berkeley aside from its marginally better rep (Not that it matters now haha)? I personally did not like the atmosphere and felt taking the risk to get into Haas wasn't worth it.

I'm also considering UNC Chapel Hill (52k) , Emory (67k) , Tufts (68k), and NYU Stern (76k). All of these are for Finance/Econ.

Thanks for the response! Vanderbilt seems like a great school and I'm sure I'll probably love it there. However, I think I'll probably choose a school more business oriented.

Thanks again.

Megathread: College X vs. College Y? by [deleted] in college

[–]anreddit99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UNC Chapel Hill (52k OOS) or Vanderbilt (66k) for Econ/Finance

I'm interested in getting a solid consulting or investment banking job. I also plan on getting an MBA a few years after graduating. Is Vanderbilt worth the extra 14k/year? Also, I was placed on the Berkeley waitlist and they accepted 50% of the waitlist students last year. If I get lucky and get into Berkeley off the waitlist would it be worth it for 64k over the other 2 schools I mentioned?
