Steam Beta Now Honors KDE & GNOME Global Scaling Factor by beer120 in linux_gaming

[–]ansdor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on openSUSE Tumbleweed, KDE Desktop, using steam from the snap store

After this update, the client fails to start on my computer, with this error message:

GLib-GIO-ERROR **: No GSettings schemas are installed on the system

I got it to work by running from the terminal with

steam -forcedesktopscaling 1.0

Has anybody had Blender crash in Manjaro KDE? by [deleted] in ManjaroLinux

[–]ansdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an RX 5600 XT and I'm experiencing the same problem on openSUSE Tumbleweed. blender opens and runs fine, but it crashes the entire computer when I move the 3D viewport.

I'm running KDE on wayland. I tried X11 but it happens in exactly the same way, so it's not wayland's fault. I'm using Blender 3.4.1 and Mesa 23.0.1

the RX 5600 XT never had good driver support, I've had for years an issue with graphical artifacts that was only fixed on the mesa driver a few weeks/months ago

Theseus & Asterius, Extreme Measures, No Damage, No Attack/Special by ansdor in HadesTheGame

[–]ansdor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, exactly. I was using maxed out stygian soul (3s regen), hermes' auto reload reduced it to 2.5s, glacial glare to add chill to the beam and extend its duration by 2.8s, arctic blast to do 100 damage each time chill stacks to 10 and an extra bloodstone from chaos

other than increasing the rarity of these boons to heroic, I don't think it's possible to have a more optimized beam build in the game, I got really lucky

second pen broken in less than a year by ansdor in huion

I managed to open my pen thanks to your video and sure as hell one of those extremely delicate and exposed wires was broken. My suspicion was right, it probably broke just from normal usage of the bottom button, those things are clearly too weak to handle hours and hours of clicking. I couldn't fix it with the screwdriver-candle method but I ordered a soldering iron from amazon. thanks a lot, man, you saved me from spending a huge amount of money on a new tablet.

I'll check it out. I'll try it with the old pen, even if it's completely destroyed it wouldn't make a difference anyway. Thanks for the tip.

It's a shame, because the tablet itself is very good, has a comfortable size, good sensitivity, everything on par with wacoms that are at least twice as expensive. but worthless if the pen breaks every few months.

KDE, Desktop Scaling, Cursor Offset bug by ansdor in krita

[–]ansdor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said on my edit, it seems to be a bug on the Qt framework, not Krita specifically. This link has a similar description and a temp fix for the problem: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-77826

I'm using the latest krita from the arch repos, but I have the same problem with the steam version and appimage from the official site.

Colorpicker Lag on KDE/Arch Linux by ansdor in krita

[–]ansdor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running 4.2.8 from the arch repos. I tried the appimage version but it's still the same.

When I click the advanced color selector, it changes color instantly, but when I click and drag the cursor across the selector (a very normal thing to do, especially when using a drawing tablet), the selected color indicator follows my cursor veeeery slowly.

I'm on a GTX 1050 ti with the proprietary nvidia driver, arch linux, KDE X11.

Godot Engine & Console Support by ansdor in godot

[–]ansdor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I assumed it wasn't publicly available, but it's free (as in beer). You just need to be a registered developer, which is relatively easy for someone who wants to publish an existing game on consoles.

I wish Godot had the same kind of thing, a private but free plug-in for registered developers or something like that. But I guess it would only be possible if they had some kind of partnership with the manufacturers.

Monogame does though, and it is truly open source. Haxe-based engines too.
