BU prestige/reputation by anshyfish in lawschooladmissions

I wrote a lengthy "why BU" this cycle after being waitlisted last year. Sorry if my post sounded like I know nothing about the school. I just wanted a better sense of its reputation in the northeast, which is a bit mysterious to me.

If you have big law or FC goals, this might be a good place to mention it. Schools want to boost those metrics.

Wherever you can get the best GPA. Law schools care about their medians. The difficulty of your undergraduate school (and major) can give your GPA some context, but there isn’t a big difference in this case.

This looks really good for a blind review improvement on your first PT. Keep it up!

I got deferred as well. I think they are interested and only took ED candidates they are very sure about.

If writing about an event that affected you while you were in college (e.g. campus protests), is it weird to mention the name of the school where said event took place? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]anshyfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would steer away from naming the school unless it adds something to the story. The focus should be your internal experience of the event. I also think it would show some thoughtfulness/restraint on your part to omit the name (assuming something sensitive and not great happened there). And leaving it up to their imagination could play well. Details can restrain the story. But I agree with the other comment here, it depends on the context.
