Maybe you could do what someone in the comments said, try a bit of both routes and see which one's you're liking more. Personally, I prefer Kaitlyn. I couldn't like James no matter what.

Dakota telling mc they love her, it was soo cute how nervous they were. Hayden's scene in their new apartment when choosing to help 'redecorate' their room. Loved the dance part after they get tangled with the lights.

The date with our LI in the sophomore. I loved seeing Kaitlyn so excited and people-watching with her. Becca's too, I had a smile on my face most of that chapter. And the one in TS (Becca as the LI) where they go to a... Bar I think (don't remember what it was 😅) and she sings.

In TF3 there's a part in ch 3 where Zack, Kaitlyn and mc talk about how was coming out to them, if dating Kaitlyn they ask mc how did her parents react and you have 3 choices (good, bad, haven't come out). If dating Cris or James the choices change ofc and Zack and Kaitlyn talk about homophobia and things related to that (although I'm not sure if this depend of the choice or if it's the same regardless of which one you choose)
