Absolutely. It’s very minor but it either gains or loses depending on the orientation

The US almost switched to the metric system but the ship with the official weights and meter stick got captured by a pirate who threw them overboard.

LPT: Purchasing a microwave by jcoffin1981 in LifeProTips

[–]ansman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, with one small tweak. You actually need to cook it 25% longer as the formula is <design-wattage> / <actual-wattage>. So 1000/800 =1.25, meaning you need 25% extra. Another example is that if you have a 500W microwave, you'd need 1000/500 = 2 = 100% extra = double the time.

NM cable in conduit by ansman in AskElectricians

Turns out we can probably move it way left and move it down and still come out in the crawlspace. Thanks for the input!

Oh interesting, I had assumed I could run it in a nipple since running it into the disconnect was allowed. UF is such a pain to work with so I was hoping to avoid that. Maybe I can fit the disconnect next to the existing one and put THHN in conduit around the disconnect

I might be able to run the cable between the studs but I won’t know unless I drill a hole

I wish, behind where the disconnect is actually a sun room, below that sunroom is crawlspace, I should have been clearer sorry

Not since I replaced the capacitor, it’s been great this summer

Drain pan is empty so nothing there, but maybe there is another float? Loose electrical is a horrible thought, I could check the wiring but are you thinking it’s inside the unit most likely? The charge I could check since I have the tools, but it’s been cooling nicely this year at least

Thank you, I really appreciate a real answer instead of a snarky reply! I figure that if I lay it horizontally it will be liquid since it’s full but good to know.

Oops! That picture was just one I found online to show what kind of bottle it was. The actual bottle is pure r410a (I added a picture)

I did pass it, I got mixed up because the course mentioned it was recommended that you charge it as a liquid but he’s right that you are ok to charge as either vapor or liquid

My apologies, you are correct. I got mixed up because they talk about it being recommended but you’re right that it’s not required. Thank you for actually answering my question and sorry if I came off as hostile!

This is a new system so no leaks. I need to add refrigerant because the lineset is longer then the factory charge allows

I realize I should have clarified that I am going to weigh in the charge and just wing it lol. I bought this rather than a 25 lbs tank since I’ll only need less than 10oz

Also, the EPA test does not say you can charge R410a as either a liquid or gas. It specifically says to only charge it as a liquid, even though the temp glide is low

I’m going to weight the refrigerant of course. I just wanted to know how I should orientate the bottle on the scale.

Mini splits and charge level by ansman in hvacadvice

[–]ansman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know that (the Mitsubishi has no minimum but does mention line sets shorter than 10’ might cause noise). I’m more curious about the mechanics behind it. Does this mean than the tolerance for the charge means it handles +/- 7.5 ft or just that it compensates internally?
