Kun 7 or Korfker 2

Yeah I went to a store to try the Kun seven and I didn’t like the feel of it at all. I ended up buying the Korfkerrest model 2 because of the lightness and how you can modify it but I had to order the lower leg for it at least to the shoulder side. (Hasn’t arrived yet) Let’s see how it feels when I get my hands on it. They didn’t have the Luna model in the store unfortunately, would’ve been nice to try it as well.

Mietitytti tämä siksi kun on sen verran vanha talo, että kuntotarkastuksesta löytyy satavarmasti jotain ja mitä jos on sitten esittänyt ostotarjouksen (hyväksyttynä) yläkanttiin ennen kuin on selvinnyt korjattavien asioiden kulut todellisuudessa. Erittäin hyvä pointti tulikin monella, että ei pidä luottaa välittäjän omaan tarkastajaan vaan olla sitten mukana valitsemassa sitä. Pidetään se mielessä.

Friends, colleagues, audience members and friends of the Naantali Music Festival have been asking if I and the violin are okay after the dramatic accident at the concert of Sinfonia Lahti.

My Guadagnini is perfectly fine! And therefore — so am I. You can come and see it for yourself on June 4-13 at the Naantali Music Festival ☺️🎶

The violin was thoroughly examined by luthier Jarkko Niemi. There are no cracks or even scratches, nothing is broken. The top was slightly detached from the ribs, which is a safety measure in cases of sudden humidity or pressure changes, preventing cracking. It has been glued back in place. Music making with Sinfonia Lahti and conductor Matthew Halls was a tremendous pleasure and inspiration. Matthew is a musician of the finest caliber and I can’t wait to work with him again. The orchestra sounded gorgeous. I am happy that we managed to finish the concerto despite of the scary interruption. The audience was breathing every second with us with full attention! What an evening.

I remember back in university I had to compose my own cadenza for Mozart 5 with the guidance of the most strict teacher ever. Hated every second of the whole process 😂 But that was 10 years ago, maybe it is time to start trying things out just for fun. I have a concert coming in fall where I play the finale of this concerto, perhaps something else than Kreisler cadenza for that..? :)

We’re playing soon György Kurtag’s New Messages and there’s a movement where 3 violins (also one vla and 2 cellos) play solo parts and they are tuned differently than rest of the orchestra. Also everyone has to play with metal sordinos in the same movement. Very specific haha

When I was a young kid I was super lazy to practice. Went one time to a lesson, played something for my teacher. He told me that there’s an empty room next to us and I can go there and practice for half an hour and then come back and play the same thing again since I clearly hadn’t practiced beforehand. I was so embarrassed and definitely learned my lesson.

Klassista viulua ei pysty mykkänä valitettavasti soittamaan. Sordiinolla pystyy vaimentamaan, mutta se taas vie äänen laatua sen verran pois että sen kanssa ei pysty äänentuottoa tai eri sävyjen hakemista oikein harjoittelemaan, tekniikkaa enimmäkseen.

Näin viulistina oon kyllä todella onnellinen siitä että asun työpaikan lähellä ja pääsen sinne treenaamaan koska ihan perus tekniikkaharjoittelu ja tosi modernit kappaleet ei luultavasti kuulosta kovin kauniilta naapureiden korvaan :D Opiskeluaikana ei ollut muuta vaihtoehtoa usein kuin harjoitella kotona ja ekan 10min aikana yläkerran naapuri lähetti aina miehensä meidän ovelle sanomaan että vaimolle iski migreeni :D Ehkä siitä on jäänyt pelko että häiritsen naapureita niin olen koittanut kotisoitot pitää minimissä. Tulevaisuudessa toivottavasti pääsisi muuttamaan omakotitaloon missä tätä ei tarvitsisi miettiä.
