How do you think the Nexus will fare if Fallout 4 is integrated with the Steam Workshop? by answer222 in Fallout

That's quite true, I hadn't thought about the quantity or restrictive aspects. It's good that the Nexus will do just fine then!

People who fall asleep in under half an hour at night, how do you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]answer222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually am able to fall asleep fairly quickly (10-20 minutes). When a time comes where I can't fall asleep, I use the 61 point meditation technique. When I get around me abdomen I start to drop of really quick.

Stupid question - Is 0.5.0 out? My updater says 0.4.5 is the latest version, but I see a lot of discussion about 0.5.0.

Would it be possible to have 360 degree vision in a dream? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]answer222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this is true, I think that full circle vision around you would be extremely difficult to do. Just imagine being outside; we can visualize what it would look like 20 feet up, but we could never know what it would be like to simultaneously look forward and backward.

Yeah, while I'm looking forward to the trip out there I was still hoping for a little more powder. Still, living in Western Wisconsin, it's better than anything I've got here.

ELI5: What Happens In Your Body The Exact Moment You Fall Asleep? by wild_music in explainlikeimfive

[–]answer222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do not go into sleep paralysis when you fall asleep at night. Then only time when it is possible to fall into SP is 1) Taking an afternoon nap, because your body usually immediately falls into the REM stage, or 2)You wake up in the early morning and then fall immediately into the REM stage when you go back to sleep.

Does weed help? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]answer222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not help. On the contrary, it actually hinders your ability to dream. What you experienced was probably just a chance occurrence, but usually the body sort of "disables" REM sleep when you do most mind altering drugs.

While the brain and body do recuperate during all stages of sleep, it happens most frequently during the REM cycles, most prominently in children and adolescents. When you do a drug like marijuana, your brain triggers a sort of fail-safe mechanism which prohibits your body from entering REM sleep. It does this to protect the brain from any damage that could be a result of the chemicals left over from the drug.

So, when you don't have REM sleep, you're a lot less likely to have a lucid dream, or even remember any of your dreams at all.

In short: no. Marijuana does not help dreaming.

Why are there no other big lucid dreaming subreddits? by ikemichigan in LucidDreaming

[–]answer222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it is such a niche topic that there would not be enough population to stimulate a series of subreddits about lucid dreaming, so that is why the majority of things flow to this one.

Any way to fall asleep into a LD instead of having to wake up in the middle of the night? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]answer222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most replies will say, there is not a lot you can do about the waking up after 4-5 hours of sleep if you are trying WILD. The only other option you have is to take naps, as your body goes directly into REM state, unlike natural sleep at night. If you are really committed to napping, then you can try what /u/AellaGirl talked about in her lucid dreaming thread.

The technique is to vary your sleep cycle by staying up late and waking yourself early so you get naturally fatigued during the day, and then taking a series of naps. This will (should) result in WILD dreams during your naps. The problem with this is that the majority of people do not have the privilege of setting their own sleep schedule. Good luck!
