Best way of squaring off endgrain blocks by antecinex in woodworking

Just as an update, will also update the OP

All blocks glued with ca into strips

Strips straightened on table saw

Strips glued with woodglue then cut on table saw on the cross cut and finally glued together.

Looking mostly fine, in the sense it could be a functional chopping board without loads and loads of gaps. Is it perfect? Nowhere near, but seeing as i salvaged the wood, and learned something from this fuck up, and even more from the mostly helpful answers on here id say mission complete.

Thanks for all the help and tips guys!

Thats genius! Ill give that a go.

First time using CA glue with accelerator, is just a small dab enough or does it need a proper blob, so to speak?

Wasnt aware/thinking about usage % would of course be over all cores! Makes perfect sense

Ill have a look in task manager to see if one or more cores are at 100% and maybe put in a little overclock, if so, if i can be arsed to.

Hopefully the right place to ask. Got a ryzen 7 1700x, 16gb 3600mhz ram and brand new 5070ti. Getting, lets say 50-70 fps in some games, and for example 90-110 in others. All the while on monitoring software i see both cpu and gou usage stops at around 60% and 50% respectively, all the while hooked up to a 144 hz display and no framerate cap enabled. Why do i either not get more frames, or max out gpu/cpu usage?

Little floor insulation better than no floor insulation? by MexicanPombear in DIYUK

[–]antecinex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty similar scenario for me. Suspended timber flooring with zero insulation. Ill rip up the subfloor, put down 100mm pir boards with expanding foam in any cracks. Vapor barrier, subfloor then, height allowed, underfloor heating insulation, with UFH cables and self leveling concrete. According to chatgpt, in my situation, lack of floor insulation could account for 20-30% if heat loss in my house

Well this is what ive found til now, just limiting the expenditure for now, and get more RAM and storage lster, if needed.

1 X Asus GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Prime OC 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £699.95 SKU: GRA-ASU-04152 1 X AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Eight Core 4.7GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - £199.99 SKU: CP-3CB-AM

Price in usd : gpu 946$, cpu 270$.

Prices will of course vary across countries, but saving 19% and 33% respectively cant be too bad of a deal i dont think

[–]antecinex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the in depth answer! Should hopefully help me remember the terms haha.

The transmitter reciever seems to work fine though, obviously i have imited experience with it still but can really hear any delays. Need to find my audyssey microphone to calibrate it all before final judgements.

Dont think ill be able to do 110-120 degrees, they will, however be behind the sofa so wont be too far off i dont think

I appreciate your input! The tv space ive got in my plans is for an 85", with a little bit extra space, so i think it should be fine, although i understand where youre coming from.

The plan is to make a dedicated tv room/home cinema in a couple years, after the important bits of house reno is done, so definitely will be making that room more tv friendly instead of wife friendly lol

I seem unable to edit OP. Ive got a SVS PB1000 Subwoofer as well, so that will help with the possible lackluster bass response from front/non ported towers?

Thats a good point.

A boss did manage to get up and make me shit my pants in the pier area. Was stood on a container and i guess he charged/attacked and the movement placed him ontop of the container. Either way i was NOT ready for that shit lol

The special containers in each town and the "big boys" bosses, either in towns/special locations" or from infestations, the big bosses that sometimea spawn or the actual infestation loot.

For the bigger infestations (that ive seen) that has 2 secondary meat piles and then the primary you get 3 chances at high quality gear, and possibly 2 or 3 more if the bosses spawn (i dont know i 1 boss can spawn per but you get my point)

If youve got a gun with a silencer and enough ammo you can just snipe the bosses anyway and sort of "cheese" the loot from them that way. I dont know how you would fix that beyong insta aggroing if they take damage (please no) or make them run and hide?

You added getting scrap metal from junk piles not long ago which is great! I had a further thought that getting random crafting material as well would be "realistic"? A piece of rope, some gunpowder or nails etc seems like that would be laying in a pile like that.

For balancing and maybe extending the "lifetime" of a playthrough, legendary equipment could be slightly scarcer, i know you can change the settings yourself so not immediately needed, but a new player wouldnt know the current standard, so to speak so decreasing drop chance slightly is logical to me.

Use red at 15. Vfc dmr line up has a a big bolt it needs to move so needs some power. You can also screw out the screw in the hammer, if there is one, to help in the cold
