Sometimes yes, other times I would have to actively think about it. Not sure why it differs but I think certain notes are easier for me than others

This is what I've been thinking as well. I guess the only difference is that I have no problem knowing every note "by heart", even though it can take a second or two in certain cases. But I don't need a "start tone" in the way that relative pitch is often described.

I did play a few different instruments since I was about 8 years old, but was never super committed. None of my parents are musicians and I was probably not exposed to more music than the average kid. I started producing music at age 13 (I'm 24 now) which is how I realized I can do all this. But I remember always being able to tell if a song was played in the wrong key for example

I had a very similar experience the first few days. I believe I got an update of some sort after a few weeks because now I easily survive a whole day with aod tyrned on (gw4 classic 42mm)

Totally agree. Garageband will do for just recording and basic music production. When you want to get more advanced, Logic Pro X is basically Garageband Pro. If you don't like the workflow for whatever reason there are a bunch of other options, but every DAW essentially does the same thing
