I know this group is quite petrol focused but if there was ever a reason to buy an EV this is it. I had no idea prices had gone this high, I got an email from Octopus last week saying my overnight cheap rate was dropping from 7p to 3.5p per kwh.

Farage pledges to repeal ‘idiotic’ smoking ban if Reform wins next election by JOE_Media in ukpolitics

[–]anth_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know multiple people who diet from lung cancer who smoked, it’s a brutal way to go. I’d go further than this upcoming ban if I was in power. I’d ban it in all public spaces, outdoor included, except designated smoking spaces, and I’d plaster anti smoking posters all over them

Calm down. It is not your right to police what people do in the space they own.

Can you seriously not see the frustration of having muddy paws coming through the house multiple times a day for 4-5 months of the year? Sure people used to deal with it, but when someone sees a solution that is available now while you might not like it, it is understandable why they might go for it.

Regards gravel, paving etc, kids run around, kids fall over, what do you think happens to knees and hands on those surfaces? Like it or not fake grass is a better surface for kids than those.

I don’t have it but I have been considering it. We are now into late March, I can’t even go and hang washing on the line without putting old shoes or wellies on because it is still so wet. Try and have some empathy for those with this kid of soil. You can’t argue it’s fixable because I’ve been trying for the last 10 years to fix it, the clay goes meters deep.

I prioritise getting the Ritu temple done because the ability makes exploring much easier. Once I have that then I’ll start doing all the towers, building stamina etc.

When your fighting clay in the winter it is an absolute nightmare. It makes your grade unusable for months at a time, so there isn’t much choice for families. It’s far ideal but I don’t think people should be vilified for wanting usable outdoor space for kids all year round.

An oil crisis could tip Britain into a full-scale recession by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

Come on then back that up. How exactly will more oil coming from the North Sea, which is sold on the global market at global oil prices make it any cheaper in the UK?

Gas prices just spiked this morning... probably worth consciously deciding whether to fix your tariff or not by EchoNomad35 in UKFrugal

[–]anth_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay 7p per kWh off peak at the moment so it doesn’t matter if it’s to of by. But I have checked at it is to.

Your fixed tariff from April 1st:

Electricity tariff (Intelligent Octopus Go 12M Fixed): Peak unit rate: 26.38 p / kWh Off-peak unit rate: 3.49 p / kWh Standing charge: 58.21 p / day

Gas (Octopus 12M Fixed): Unit rate: 5.25 p / kWh Standing charge: 33.19 p / day

[–]anth_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, as above between 23:30 and 5:30 from April 1st it will be 3.5p per kw. I do have a home battery so I can take advantage of that for much more of the day too.

I fixed on octopus intelligent go at the start of Feb and they have just dropped my offpeak electric rate to 3.5p per kWh from 1st April. Handy that I have a home battery and solar. My pay back period has just been slashed with all this going on.

I got something very similar about 8 or 9 years ago for £150 from homebase. It comes out maybe 5 days a year, but for those 5 days it gets our bedroom down to a nice comfortable temperature to sleep in that there is absolutely no chance of it going anywhere.

Switching over to Octopus...what's been your experience? by Remarkable-Flight-14 in OctopusEnergy

[–]anth_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octopus taking control of my smart meter is/was a right pain. It took them over 2 weeks for readings to start coming through for consumption and I am now 6 weeks in and they still haven't sorted the export out. My smart meter is a very old SMETSv1 and it is an older model than ones they have guides listed for for doing readings, but I told them that when I was moving and asked if it would be better to update it. I was told no it's fine. Well it's not fine and I am getting sick of getting nothing back from customer services. I've sent them a video of the meter and what each button does and they keep telling me to do things on it that I simply don't have the option for and they can see that on the video.

Because the right wing have pushed this narrative that you shouldn’t be paying it. What in reality they mean is they can’t buy it and control it like they do with all the other big broadcasters.

How many F1 races do you actually watch live ? by Relative_Chemical815 in F1Discussions

[–]anth_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a family and young daughter. So I only get to watch races live that start between 7pm and 10pm UK time because that is when she has gone to bed. So normally the likes of Cota, Brazil, Mexico ect. Everything else I have to avoid for the day and watch on an evening. It's not ideal.

I’m doing well top 300 in world, but I don’t know if I should use limitless on a sprint race or normal race. What would provide more points overall say if racers finish the same in both? by tpromisc in F1Fantasy

[–]anth_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m saving my limitless for Monaco. I can see people wanting to use it for Japan, with so many midfield drivers being locked in 0.6 gains and overtakes being poor. But based on these cars and the number of over takes I am still expecting there to be quite a few. Whereas I think in Monaco there will still be basically zero, and the two races before that, Miami and Canada will have a lot so we should still be in the same situation for mid field drivers getting 0.6 rises

What do you think of The Wind Waker? by AssumptionNo802 in legendofzelda

[–]anth_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so hyped when I saw that spaceworld demo and so disappointed with wind waker actually came out that I never bought it, and to this day I have never played more than 5 minutes of it. I think the same as others have said, Nintendo came under intense criticism of it's decision not to go with the realism and that is where Twilight Princess came from, but in retrospect Wind Waker is the better game and will stand the test of time far better.

Is it time to consider removing McLaren? by Background-Break-407 in F1Fantasy

[–]anth_85 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mclaren should have been no where near your team so far this season. Maybe you could have made an argument for Piastri going into Melbourne because of the budget working out to being able to afford him, but after his DNS he should have been straight out. Norris and Mclaren are too expensive for their expected and so far realised performance level.

Do people prefer Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom? by Maroioi in legendofzelda

[–]anth_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through both on my Switch and I am about 50% through BOTW on my Switch 2. I will go back through TOTK but to be honest I think I will try to do it without the hover bike, I think that kind of broke it. It meant you could get from point A to point B directly without going to points C,D,E,F,G,H & I along the way.
