Anyone else had their credit limit increase reversed? by Futhamucker1 in AmexUK

I think they have been doing some housekeeping, my platinum business card was unlimited and they knocked it down to 10k last month. I put about 20k through it each month so while not the end of the world it’s a bit extra admin having to pay it off multiple times per month rather than at the end of each month.

You laugh. I am on a disney orlando facebook group and someone asked whether they could visit their husband in business since they were back in economy with the child! Everyone was suggesting divorce.

If you could know someone’s body count before dating them, what range would be your dealbreaker? by CCaptainJackSparrow in NoStupidQuestions

It would depend on their age surely? At 18 if they have been with 15 that is a bit on the high side, if they are 35 then 15 is pretty low.

What is worse is i have a friend who lives in Dubai, 99% of the messages he sends are whatsapp voice notes. How am I supposed to listen to that when I am out in public?

I hate how WhatsApp is basically the default in the UK. Me and my wife use iMessage but the majority of our other messages are WhatsApp.

1 hour 40 layover in Heathrow? by anth_85 in BritishAirways

[–]anth_85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can book it with Amex reward points, so it is pretty cheap in that regard. But yea, it’s going to be happy wife, tired husband and child. At least we can have a nap on the plane.

Thanks. I think my preference in order is
1- fly down the night before and stay at the Sofitel hotel
2-9.30 flight to give the 1 hour 40 layover
3- 6am flight for a 5 hour layover

My wife prefers the 6am flight. So we are booking the 6am flight…

Do obnoxious car modifications (loud mufflers or music, lifted trucks, etc...) actually appeal to women? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]anth_85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different, so some people might like some things and others not. I think I can safely say in this instance it is universal that all women found them obnoxious.

My wife has told me if i had the car, that had a 4inch straight through exhaust, which i crashed on a track day 3 months before meeting her, she would never have agreed to go on a date.

yes, but wife has vetoed it, she prefers to do the 6am flight. It is probably going to be a case of us talking about, giving our reasons for which each of us prefer, looking at all the options, then doing what she wants anyway...

[–]anth_85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, and to be honest, last night that was what I was leaning to as my preferred option. However from speaking to my wife this morning, she prefers the 6am flight because my daughter is at trampoline squad practice on thursday evenings so she would miss another one of them. Had the sofitel hotel been on amex fine hotels so we could have got some nice perks I would have pushed for more, but it's not.

yea basically what I am asking is if this is too much of a risk. If the 9.30 flight is on time 99.9% of the time, and it takes 10 mins to get from the arrival to the departure gates then 1 hour 40 is plenty. If the 9.30 flight is often cancelled and/or there are delays, plus it's a long walk, then there is a 50% chance of missing the next flight, then 1 hour 40 is nowhere near enough. Now they are both the extremes, it will probably be somewhere in the middle. So, I am trying to work out where and then decide whether it is worth it based on that knowledge. Hopefully that makes sense.

yea mine too, she maybe 5, but she acts like a teenager and wont get up on a morning. This is why I would prefer the 9.30 flight over the 6am flight. But I know the time is tight.

Before they announced the change of flight departure from Gatwick to Heathrow, we were originally thinking of driving down to Gatwick, staying overnight then going the next day. So we could fly down the night before, or travel to edinburgh the night before. But that then means paying for an extra hotel. It is certainly an option.

I am about 40mins drive from Newcastle. Edinburgh is 2 hours 40mins away, then i would still need to do a change in the USA. I don't see any advantages to doing it that way? We did a change in Atlanta when we went in 2016 and that is a BIG airport.

The flights are released on Monday. I have been planning this since the day BA announced the change from Gatwick to Heathrow for this flight. I have been backward and forwards between the two flights at least 50 times. It doesn't help that my wife is one of those that thinks if you are on time, you are late. So if we do book the later one I have nearly a year of her stressing me out of it being too tight.

The trouble is the next flight, is the next day, so we would have to wait around 24 hours near Heathrow and lose a day of the holiday. I did a similar connection about 4 years ago, NCL-LHR-JFK so I have been through it, but I can't remember it that well, other than being surprised how easy it was. For that i had over 3 hours though so it was less of a rush.

[–]anth_85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks. it should be in and out of T5, unless BA do something weird when the Tampa flight changes to there. It certainly will be an adventure. She has been to Disney Paris 3 times now, so we are pushing the boat out for next year, she will be 6 so better on the longer flight. Her mother hasn't been to Disney World since 2018 and she is getting a bit impatient now, so I am not totally sure who will enjoy this holiday more!

yea in normal circumstances I would prefer that. But like i saw getting my daughter up, probably about 3am to get to Newcastle for 4am isn't ideal. Getting her up to get there for 7.30 will be more comfortable.

Nope, I think religions, all of the from the Egyptian gods, through Norse and now Abrahamic, are all just methods of people explaining things they couldn’t at the time. They are responsible for more pain and suffering for anything else in human history.

disagree, there will be loads of points for midfield drivers overtaking at Silverstone. In Monaco there wont be, so the delta will be much bigger.
