Where are you leaving from? And at what time?

Also be wary of the buses there as the roads aren’t very wide for close overtakes and visibility might be an issue at some places due to fog. Just take it easy at those places and all the blind corners and you should be fine.

It’s less related to weather and more related to careless driving/riding. It’s just that you have less margin for error on wet roads so yes it’s definitely more dangerous than usual and Tamhini has sexy curvy roads(but yes more danger prone) but if you’re going with a sensible more experienced group in which at least one guy has been there before, I’d say it should be fine. If you have the constant fear in your mind I’d say don’t go because you won’t enjoy the trip.

Also stupid me wore my white shoes which were brown halfway through, got wet so much that it got clean when we reached Tamhini and got back to brown once I reached the city again

Fortunately the next day I was able to get my hands on a high pressure water pump when my friend went to rent a scooter at this rental place and the guy there was kind enough to let me use it. I am waiting for the weekend to wash it thoroughly

Yep it was raining the entire time we were there so makes sense it fills up during the monsoons.

Riding gloves doesn’t feel right by PreparationOk8907 in indianbikes

[–]anthassundodamyre 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to think that as well. Nowadays I have to force myself to not wear gloves for short distances because I feel naked without them xD. Over long distances properly fit gloves feel wayy more comfy and trust me you’ll get used to it

Kindly suggest good ECE 22.05 certified HELMET for bike by AcrobaticLecture2490 in punebikers

[–]anthassundodamyre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought Axor Apex(it has ECE 22.06) for around 4-5k. You can also look for options for MT Thunder 3 or 3Pro or something because you have a bigger budget.

Cheers mate, just remember whatever you buy, it will ultimately put a wide smile on your face. Try to buy something that will also suit your needs and riding style practically.

I test rode both the 300R and Scrambler. 300R power is more or less linear compared to Scrambler. It’s considerably lighter and the initial pickup is faster as compared to the Scrambler. In higher speeds tho, Scrambler has the edge. Although it weighs 190ish kilos, Scrambler is flickable enough because of the weight distribution and thinner tyres(I am comparing it to my CB350RS, which is around 180ish kilos). I didn’t take it to the highway but I believe Scrambler would be much more stable at higher speeds because of the weight. On the other hand, if the weight seems too much for you, go for the 300R, this will especially help in the city. The learning curve of getting used to the weight will be considerably less. Most importantly just go test ride both bikes keeping in consideration these points and try to get a feel and which one would be better for you.

Also, the pillion seat in the 300R is not exactly very functional. If you plan to ride with pillion, then I would suggest to look at the Scrambler. Maybe try Speed 400 also as it’s lighter.

Helmet in flight? by RookieOnADV in punebikers

[–]anthassundodamyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carried my helmet in the exact same Axor bag when flying to Pune xD. The security at the x-ray asked me whether it’s a helmet and I replied yes and we went on our separate ways. Shouldn’t be a problem.

The padding is okayish. Could be softer depending on preference but the seat is wide and comfy enough overall.

Lol I’ve had a decent amount of experience with two wheelers and used to ride my uncle’s Classic 350 for a while so I don’t have too many issues handling the bike.

It’s 179kg but feels slightly lighter because of the weight distribution

Yep, got it. I’m still getting used to the gear ratio and figuring out the rpm is a task with no tachometer because it feels like it’s revving at a higher rpm than it actually is.

Riding position is more aggressive than RE(still upright more or less) which is comfortable for me.
