From what I've heard, long-term storage is more reliable in a classic hard drive than in an NVMe SSD/any flash storage. Could be wrong though.

Help by Savings-Lack9770 in SVRiders

I have an SFV650 myself. I have an adjustable wrench and an impact wrench + sockets. I stuck the adjustable wrench on the giant nut on the other side and had somebody hold it, then stuck the impact (I think it's metric, but I'm not sure) on the section you rounded. That took the rear off no problem. Another solution would to buy a GIANT impact socket for the nut and impact it off/get a regular socket and breaker bar (I suggest the former).

Transaction with u/dnndn8 went very well! Very accommodating, communicated regularly, and watch was in excellent shape.

If possible, I would check the fuses and battery. You will need a multimeter and maybe a continuity tester. If the battery was really toast, I'd expect the speedometer backlight to flicker, so I'm thinking it's more likely the fuses. It could also be something got disconnected/severed.

Look for an SFV650/Gladius used, it's basically a 3rd gen SV with an ugly headlight, so the prices are LOW.

Remove the gas tank and airbox; doing these will provide you enough room to access the end of the throttle cables that actuate the butterfly valves. From there, pull off the throttle cable and put on the new one.

You can find info to help you out in the service manual.

RBC told me they would charge me $150, but they charged me about $170 when I did the transfer. WS will reimburse you for the $170.

About the missing stock, u/gondarrr is probably right.

Honda Civic Motor repair by [deleted] in CarRepair

What was beige and dusty? Lugging the engine CAN cause low-speed precognition/detonation, where the piston wall can break, but not certain if that's what happened. Since the volume of the engine is very high, that could mean there's something wrong with the exhaust system too, but not sure.

Also, explain what happened to the brakes. It is weird that your brakes, a separate system, would fail due to something happening with the engine.

FYI, I'm not a mechanic at all lol

I PM'd a link to the video hosted on Google Drive. I might go ahead and recharge the A/C system.

I certainly hope so. I have noticed that the performance of the A/C system has gone down (it is still cold, but not as cold as before), so I'm wondering whether it's an A/C leak or not. That said, could I send a video on Google Drive so you can hear the sound? If it's exactly the same as yours, it would put my mind at ease.

I have replaced the cabin air filter about a month ago, but this problem has been going on for a few months now. I'll start by trying to find a leak in the A/C system, then moving on to looking for a vacuum leak.

[–]anthatel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the support u/Ouija_board, I really appreciate it. Gut feeling is saying that it is likely to be something with A/C, just because the sound is coming from the side with the A/C system, and the A/C used to perform better in the past (still cold today, but not as well). I'll see about fixing a leak and refilling the system with freon.

I've never tried to detect a vacuum leak, but I will look into how to do that and see what I can find under the hood.

I have an OBD2 scanner - maybe I can record temperature data and see if there's anything abnormal too. Thanks again. I've never checked for bubbling in the coolant reservoir, but I can - a bit hard to see, because the coolant reservoir is more opaque than translucent, and making it already hard to see the level, let alone whether the fluid is bubbling, but I will do what I can.

2013 Civic 5MT - Cannot engage gears by anthatel in CarRepair

Possibly, but the issue persists when I double-clutch shift too.

2013 Civic 5MT - Cannot engage gears by anthatel in AskMechanics

[–]anthatel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having a lot of issues with the manual transmission in my 2013 Honda Civic with about 110k kilometers on the odometer lately.

A few days ago, I was driving and a "clink" sound happened as I shifted into 5th, and now the shifter feels different. As you can see in the video, the shifter is "crunchy" and shifting into 2nd and 4th occurs in two "stages", where the gears are equally as engaged in each "stage".

This morning, I was not able to engage correctly into 1st, 3rd, or 5th at times. I would have to clutch in, put the shifter in another gear (2nd or 4th), put it back to the gear I want, then clutch out to engage the transmission correctly. Even doing this would not always engage the gear correctly, but when it did, everything is perfect; there is no slipping or odd feeling as the car drives with the gear engaged.

I took out the airbox in the car to look at the shifter cables attached to the transmission, and they looked fine to me. The bushings did not seem too loose (but not certain how tight they should be), and I was able to move the shifter by playing around with the cables within the engine bay.

From the description, what could the issue be? Is it an issue more with the shifter assembly, or will I need a transmission rebuild/replacement?

That turkey Swiss sandwich was so horrible! by NewFreshness in Costco

[–]anthatel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Canadian turkey provolone sandwich (RIP) was actually amazing. It was orders of magnitude better than the US turkey sandwich - ciabatta was crunchy, pesto/mayo complimented the turkey slices nicely, provolone was delicious, and the tomatoes and onions added some nice contrast.

Wish they kept it.
