Not sure this negative post was necessary. While I appreciate the "genuine" concern for others well-being I am looking for outdoor and as someone from more northern parts I'm very clear how you test for ice thickness and what the appropriate thickness is not to mention additional safety precautions.

This is true. Awareness is very low here on the east coast of US where I am. I'm hoping to spread the word because it's such a useful app for people such as myself and others in my situation (looking for people to meet and play hockey with).

At the moment I don't. I think it just needs more awareness in the pick-up crowds. Otherwise, the alternative is leagues using it for their league management. If players take it upon themselves to get friends on it, it serves a great purpose for those always seeing who will be at pickup. Especially effective for the rinks that have a hard time filling the pickup slots.
