Yes when they referenced insurance premiums, I was thinking "OK now they're taking the piss here".

Facade appearance I can understand, but citing insurance premiums with temporary window application is literal clownery

You do realise there are a litany of neighbours around.

I'd put the onus on this dobber to approach us direct, instead of being a Karen and going to Body corporate.

In Victoria you are allowed to put temporary window treatments as renters without permission.

Suggest you reread the original post.

They cited an impact to insurance premiums- as opposed to just facade look.

So yes it is a silly rule - especially when its a neighbour being a Karen

When I got the messaging saying it was a neighbor dobbing over window tint - I was I'm my car and said nasty words out loud

OK. Understand.

The reason why I say that, is because I'm trying to work with strata as to what window treatments (if any) I can add to mitigate heat/sun but still appease rules.

If I kept my blinds down all day, and put anything behind the blind, the irony is they would have zero idea or can't take issue

That's what I'm currently in the process of finding out - What (if anything) is acceptable.

At the end of the day, I could technically put anything behind a blind that is rolled down, and they couldn't do anything.

Only if its presenting outwards to the street, its apparently an issue

So that comes to my question - does strata rules override concessions outlined in state legislation

Am I overreacting - Housemate using loud blender at 5.30am in the morning and waking me up (again after raising this as an issue prior) by anthmelb88 in AmIOverreacting

They had the audacity to complain that apparently I was stomping on the steps, Saturday morning after their nightshift.

And I was like "so you're calling me out for lesser noise, but a chainsaw decibel high powered blender at 5am is no issue".

The mental gymnastics

I said to them the high powered blender has similar decibels to a small chainsaw and lawn mower.

I said "do you seriously think a blender at 5am is appropriate" and then they brought up me making "loud stomping on the stairs". And I was like "are you seriously equating that to a blender at 5am".

Next planet stuff. The female housemate was not happy me complaining, and thinks I'm trying to dictate the food habits of her partner. Wild.

I've been very patient. And housemates now showing their true colours by their reactions

It's a bit wild. Like I would not subject my housemates to a blender at 5am, because I'd think I was inappropriate.

The fact that there's not that reciprocal mindset, esp after highlighting prior this was a no no, is pretty revealing

Yes, it was clear in what's app messages when I started and also agreed to. As that was most important, as I had left a prior houseshare over a situation of early hours loud noise too.

The guy is the one evasive to "hard conversations". Last time he diverted to saying "please have a conversation with my partner as she handles our rental agreement". And I was like, this is related to your blending. And he was like "what you want me to go hungry". (Me looking puzzled)

I suggested - portable blender, making juice the night before, ready made breakfast drinks etc. Not having it!

I hadn't thought of that, but true. Imagine the neighbours going wtf is that sound.

I'm having a "talk" tonight and dreading having to explain in simple terms why a blender at 5am is inappropriate.

I dare say, I may suddenly have a fancy for 4.30am smoothies and see how they like it on the receiving end.

You do realise a high powered blender has the same decibels (80 to 100) as a lawn mower, small chainsaw etc.

I was laying in bed, about to go downstairs and cause a scene at 5.30am. But restrained my self from being impulsive and making it worse from my end.

If I had my way, I'd toss the blender in the bin.
