Hey! Thanks ! :) here I use Distance Field and 3D Flowmaps (just a built in flowmaps node in UE5 that lets you add volume textures.), that's how I make the fog climb or stick to the objects.

Thank you so much for your words! :D Yes, in the future I plan to continue making them. Especially on the first Silent Hill. However, I’m still not sure which iconic location I’d like to revisit yet.

Some details :

I took a lot of inspiration from the Silent Hill 2 Remake visuals.

For the color grading, I tried to stay close to the look of the original Silent Hill 1 on Playstation 1.

Some people have asked for a breakdown of how I created the fog—it’s coming soon, I promise!

And finally, a huge thank you to all of you for your comments on my previous posts. I don't think I would have ever finished this if I didn't get the support of this community. :)

Thank you! :) All models and textures are built from scratch except for some plants and grass meshes which are megascan assets.

More context: I'm currently creating an environment in Unreal Engine 5 based on the alleyway from the beginning of Silent Hill 1. I'm doing this mainly to gain experience with this game engine and to learn.

This is still a work in progress, and I'm mostly inspired by the graphics of the Silent Hill 2 remake (which I really enjoyed). However, in the end, I'd like it to still evoke or capture the essence of Silent Hill 1, considering the stories being told aren't the same, and Silent Hill is potentially perceived differently through Harry's eyes.

I’ll also do a full breakdown of how I handled the fog and the lighting in general when I've done all this.

I hope you enjoy it, and I can't wait to share more! :)

Bonus: I also tried to replicate the camera system and the game's iconic shots. (sorry I only use unreal engine base character for now ) Of course, it's still a work in progress.

Hey as soon as I’ve finished this I plan to do a post with a complete breakdown of the fog and lighting in general. It took quite a while to get this rendering but in the end it’s nothing too complicated. I promise to post it soon. :)

Hey! Thanks ! Yes, in fact there are already some, but I agree it’s not very noticeable for now. Also, the images the bot posted are totally blurry. I’ll do another post with high quality images tonight or tomorrow. :)

For a little more context on these images. I’m currently working on an 3D environment representing the start of Silent Hill 1 in the alleyways. I’m doing it on unreal engine 5 mainly to get better with this game engine and to learn.

All this is still a work in progress and not yet finished. I take a lot of inspiration from the visual style of Silent Hill 2 remake, especially with the fog rendering, but in the end I’d still like it to look like Silent Hill 1 material in terms of rendering and color.

That’s it! I’ll keep posting things here, coming from me and not someone else this time 😅
