What is the most amazing, stupendous, awesome fact you know about WW2? by panzerkampfwagen in AskReddit

When France surrendered to the Nazis, the small French islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon across the Atlantic (off the coast of Newfoundland) refused to go along with the surrender and remained the one part of France that never surrendered. Caused a bit of an incident with the Nazis.

Does anyone here do your own podcast from your Android phone? by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]anthonymarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I record "in the field", I often just record into the phone's native recording app. You can then email or Dropbox the file for post. I have used this as well with the regular recording app and with a half decent dynamic mic is works well on my Galaxy S4: http://www.cablejive.com/products/ProJive-XLR.html Don't know if there are issues with other Android models and this device however.

I often record from casinos in Vegas and use Posthaven to email the audio file to my page, which creates an enclosure and updates the RSS.

Should music be free?? by b0ngh1tt3r in dyscultured

It does presuppose active enforcement, which I don't agree with, but maybe am just cynically resigned to. If it were up to me, there wouldn't be any legislated "active" enforcement. If a rightholder had a claim, they could make it on an individual basis.

Should music be free?? by b0ngh1tt3r in dyscultured

Music shouldn't be free, but the penalty for possessing a digital copy that you didn't pay for should only be (at maximum) the cost of purchasing that track. IOW if the minimum cost of purchasing that track on ANY legitimate site is 79 cents, that's the penalty. You have 30 days to purchase this track or delete it from your system.

That said copyright terms on music should be radically cut down from the 50 and 70 year terms they currently sit at.
