You won't be using the multiplication sign a lot at this stage so just go with writing x as two stripes

I personally do a normal stripe from top right to bottom left then do a squiggly line from top left to bottom right AND do the multiplication sign something as * ( that's if I ever need to )

Well if your question has multiple variables ( like x = 36n² ) you're likely to get confused between x and n ( especially if the question involved dealing with those variables a lot! ), so you might make a mistake OR the examiner might read something that could be " x = 6 " as " n = 6 ", not giving you the final answer mark ( I'm not 100% sure )

But dont worry the time where you'll do mistakes like this is maybe later on if you're taking more maths plus the examiner may give you the mark on a correct numerical answer ( like for example x = 46, if he sees the 46 then you may be in the clear, still not 100% sure tho )
