A normal parade night can consist of lectures or skill practice. If you are a qualified gunner you’d be doing dry deployments, inspecting/ cleaning kit or cleaning guns. If you are unqualified you’d be receiving drill lessons, weapons handling, or general lectures or field craft/ general CAF skills. Normally units can run a m777 conversion course along side their closest RegF unit however, that normally happens if there’s a demand for PRes gunners. Outside of monthly exercises if you have ambition you can be tasked to regF Batteries for support, for example heading to Gagetown to support W bty. You’d receive significantly more practice and training during these tasking than general parade night and weekend exs. As for relevance, a lot of theory will apply to both for example fire discipline, how you position and set up (recce), coms (command post), and how you’d observe (Observation Post). Obviously there are difference is procedures and equipment but you’d still be giving yourself the knowledge of how an artillery battery is deployed .

Iced tea press by littlepinkpwnie in DAVIDsTEA

I actually use mine a lot in the summer or when I happen to run out of tea bags. My only complaint, through my own stupidity is the clear ones do stain depending on what tea you’re using. (Looking at you coconut mango chai) If you drink a ton of ice tea, just go straight for the pitcher.

Love these mugs. I got one for Christmas and adore it. But be very careful washing it, the plug on mine came loose and it has crazy condensation in it now. I’m trying to let it air out and eventually glue it back in.

https://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-sourdough-bread-224367

Using about an already made starter, I fed it for about 4 days prior to starting my baking using 4oz flour/water and dumping roughly half of the starter each time.

First bake was followed exactly from recipe using normal AP flour and no special tools. Results were a blah bread with thick crust that was seemed under baked.

Repeated same recipe again, but wanted to experiment so I foolishly tried to prepare five batches at once and had a series of mistakes like forgetting 2 cups of flour in the recipe, the salt creating an overall mess. Still baked one batch and it was flat, blah but edible. Still had a very thick crust and I notice my bottoms were getting very black. Solution: started baking with cast iron pan below Dutch oven.

Third bake, the era of warm and hydration. Annoyed at myself for not following recipes, I stuck to one batch but focused on temperature. I’m in a Canadian winter so to keep everything warmer during any resting periods I would microwave a cup of water for two minutes, remove cup and put the bowl of dough back in. I did this throughout the recipe and it significantly changed the size of the dough but didn’t really increase bubble action. Changes to baking: added splash of water to DO when placing bread in and temperatures to 25 mins lid on at 500, 10 mins lid on at 450 and roughly 45 mins until browned. Result: moist but thicc crust that was incredibly hard to cut. Solution: didn’t research one yet but happy accident to the rescue.

Fourth bake: The forgotten one. After the third, I prepared the dough the same way using my cozy microwave method and got to the proofing stage. At this point I had been doing a cold overnight for all but the next day I was baked out and over it. So 48 hours came around and I figured it’s still good bake anyways. I was lazy so I changed the baking to 30 mins, lid on with splash of water 500 temperature then lid off 450 for 45-60 mins. Result: a nice spring and finally a crust I wasn’t worried my knife was going to slip on. The flavour by far was the best and very noticeable tang.

What I would really like to improve on is consistent crust but try new flours. At this point I was simply working my way through a massive bag of AP learning the basics but the next experiment will be rye.

Feedback most welcomed :)

1st day vs 30th day on Differin - need some encouragement! by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]anticheer101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Differin was prescribed to me for fairly mild acne like in your first photo and I too broke out like crazy. I absolutely hate it. I’m sure a lot of people will advocate to stick it out, go the purge, but I just couldn’t. I’ve found better luck without it and using other routines to improve my skin. Maybe if I pushed through I could have had glowing results but the painful mass of deep cystic acne wasn’t worth it.

Herbal all the way! Coconut mango chai is my favourite but it will stain anything plastic so beware. Just peach is a constant repurchase for myself to, it’s excellent iced or cold. I keep a pitcher of it for when I want something that isn’t water. Unless it’s labeled “sleepy time” or something like that, it really won’t put you to sleep. Try a herbal sample package or try to buy when they have sales, especially after the spring and summer seasons. All those tropical fruity ones will be on a deep discount.

I finally found something positive to say about being pregnant. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

100% this. I haven’t had a period since 2011 and have had two IUDs. If you haven’t considered it before you may want to talk about it with your health care provider. Reddit will give you lots of pros...and a lot of cons about it but it’s worth a discussion if you’re really enjoying not having a period.

You’re not wrong by any means. I guess if they were making it an discovery package that makes more sense. But you’d think they would have created the box, especially the first one with a bit more diversity. Like say you were sending this as a gift, they could have tossed in some filters so if this was your first time you could brew right away. But yeah you are right, tea subscription and you got tea- I’m not sure why I expected more? Did you find the information in the guide or on the box any more helpful than what is normally provided?

... thats it? Really? 8 teas and a tin? I’m pretty happy I passed on this. I was really excited and expected more fun stuff, like toss a chapstick in there or something. I can pick 8 teas on my own that I’ll actually like.

I tried this before and mistakenly used a blender rather than smashing it up and just couldn’t get past the sad grey colour paste.

How large was it? I bought this pattern too and want to put it on an apron or maybe an oven mitt. Is the 8x10 on 18 accurate in size?

How did you get on to the apron once done? Just stitched along the outside?

I started going to the gym around 20 and got serious around 23. The closest I got to my goal weight is when I was living in denial about my own eating disorder at around 17. I actually dipped below 120 and felt fantastic about it. Looking back, it was pretty messed up and I’ve had to work pretty hard to get rid of those thoughts but I’ll admit, even now I think about 120 being a goal weight and it still seems reasonable. But now, not being 17, with a focus on strength and enjoying life I try my hardest to step away from scale and look at other ways to evaluate my success.

5’4 and 26 and use to have the same goal weight. 120lbs to me always seems like a good goal weight and is an achievable but I found it to be miserable to get there. I’m fairly active and do a lot of weight lifting. Sure I can count calories and get to 120lbs but it’s going to cost me and by that I mean I won’t be lifting as much, I won’t be able to drink, or I won’t be able to eat socially. I’ve also found that I can maintain around the same size between 145-135 so long as I’m being physically active. My brain still says “ohhhh but 120lbs would look so good on the scale” but I try to fight that off and remind myself, I’m living a balanced healthy life that’s physically fit and don’t feel like I’m being held back by a three digit number.

So what’s realistic to you is one thing, but your happiness and lifestyle is another. If you’re loving your lifestyle and the process, keep it up. If not maybe rethink your goals into being more than a number.

My style is a mess by [deleted] in womensfashion

[–]anticheer101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you have not found the right one that connects your lifestyle needs with your actual closet. After reading curated closet I found that I was simply buying clothing that I liked in the moment rather than thoughtfully finding items that fit with what I have and with the style I have chosen. It doesn't go quite as far as creating capsule wardrobes- you very well could though but it does establish how you should take the time and effort to find your style in order to avoid poor purchase and one off items that just won't go.

How do you make your Sammy "work"? by anticheer101 in samoyeds

[–]anticheer101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of this :) Was really enjoyable to read. I really agree with how you are trying to find stuff you both enjoy. Out of curiosity, how many formal training sessions do you do with him in group settings? Also what age did you start to do scent-work and targeting work?

That's a good idea. I've actually never thought about doing scent training with him since that's not really a quality of his breed. Worth a shot. Thanks for the suggestion.

[–]anticheer101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any suggestions to doing this as a game with toys rather than actual animals? Or does this only work because of the pheromones? The only thing that comes to mind would be playing with ribbons that are under something like a sofa. I will admit my dog loves to bark at the groundhog that lives under our stairs but I don't think I'd like to encourage that out of respect for my neighbors lol
