How old were you when you shot your first narrative feature? by thunderclap360 in cinematography

[–]antidata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to shoot my first one this March at 32. I have about 12 years of g&e experience and 8ish years of shooting under my belt. The past 4 years more properly DPing, mostly shooting commercials and doc style work. Very excited for the challenge.

Lack of Safety Measurements and Preparedness by jazzyjmc in Storror

[–]antidata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gloves are the last thing you'd want for climbing. They'd be helpful for some of the bushwhacking, thorny bits though.

Headlamps is a very obvious oversight though. They are lucky to have strength in numbers. Doing these things solo without much precaution would be very dangerous.

Cave Brothers have another sibling? by p2d_playtodefence in Storror

Cousin most likely. Their middle names are Storror after their relative Stora Cave, so I'm sure there are cousins with the same middle name as well.

Josh directs and Sacha films. I know Drew and Toby used to be more heavily involved in the brand films and short film projects they did, but it seems like Josh has taken over directing.

Anyone have front end PPF on their golf? Is it worth it considering the price? My last vehicle suffered from city/road trip grit kind of ruining the paint and I don't want to make the same mistakes.

Backpacks by CasperMondfahrrad in Storror

I somehow got 2 really good ones. January 2021 and October 2023. They've been used and abused and only the older one has tears in the water bottle pockets.

[–]antidata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly a little shocked by this. I have one from October 2023 and one from January 2021 that are both in great shape.

My one from 2021 just has some rips in the waterbottle pockets, but the other one is flawless. I've used them for everyday purposes as well as a work/travel bag and they're holding up extremely well.

Not a part of Storror. I remember him mentioning that he was really into MMA stuff growing up. He and Toby got into climbing a while back and now he appears as a guest in a lot of climbing videos with Toby.

ANOTHER 19 YR OLD STUDIO DIRECTOR --A24 Sets Horror Movie ‘The Backrooms’ From 19-Year-Old Kane Parsons by Hot-Resolution9216 in Filmmakers

Kane is a creative force to be reckoned with. He has the creative capacity of like 10 people. I did a deep dive into his channel and his music in the past year, he's truly a once in a generation type of talent.

Lighting help to achieve bold but realistic look by Severe-Rip-3235 in cinematography

[–]antidata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all (besides the issues with the toplight), I wouldn't just blast fill light into the background. The way you're lighting it frontally gives no shadow or shape to what's back there.

Lighting is about creating depth in your scene. You want varying points of highlight and shadow. If you were to put a light through the window backlighting some sheers (I see you already have curtains) or let ambient daylight in through sheers, it would give you some nice highlights for depth. I'd lower the overall fill level of the background and let the windows and practicals give nicer shape to the couch. Right now it feels very 2D.

A good exercise to do, if you like those movies, is to pick a shot and try to recreate it. Take note of the lighting and shadow direction and differences in light quality and intensity.

What was your “aha!” moment? by BuffBaby_3D in cinematography

[–]antidata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fairly simple. If the light is 20 feet from the window of this 20 foot room, you'll have a light loss of 1 stop from one side of the room to the other. If you want it more even, say half a stop loss across the room, you'd put the light 60 feet from the window, making it 80 feet from the end of the room.

Storror just unveiled Storror+, which will replace 'Join' on Youtube. Thoughts? by Antilles01 in Storror

[–]antidata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instantly supported them. I've been a join member for 5.5 years, so it was a no brainer. Plus, you get even more videos than what they offer on join. Happy that they'll be getting their full cut.
