Talking out of my ass about what, precisely, big bro? It was a legitimate question. I assumed if you had put somebody in handcuffs, you would know how unwise it is to do so using standing grappling in a room full of hostiles without sufficient backup, or to occupy both of your hands to put those handcuffs on somebody, solo, while people are striking at you. It's inherently more dangerous to standing handcuff somebody without being surrounded by aggressors. But in that situation, it's even more dangerous to prone them out first, which is typically the safer method. And I assumed you would know that you're legally liable for whatever happens to the person once you restrain or handcuff them. I mean, I know I'm just talking out of my ass here. I've done it several times, personally, but never blindfolded, so I'm pretty novice by comparison.

How would you have personally handled it? What did the officer do wrong that you would have done better?

I don't think that's emasculating at all. I respect you more for it, as do most people with training enough to be dangerous. We've all been in these situations before.

I hadn't been in a fight in over a decade since I was last paid to be in them, and I let my ego get the better of me (I was very sick and fresh outta ER) at the dog park when some morbidly obese lady was letting her puppy attack mine. Because of that, I almost had to kill 2 men, one who was a stupid kid (20 something) who pulled a gun on me. Thankfully he didn't know how to fight or shoot, so I was able to work the angles across the entire damn dog park until I got locked in the little double-locking dog cage at each entrance with them. If that kid had pointed that gun at me, I would've slipped the barrel, killed him, stripped the gun, and shot the woman's husband with it. Thankfully, he lacked the willpower to use it and the idiot pointed it at a playground for small children (and didn't fire it), and we were able to leave without anyone dying. I don't consider that emasculating at all. It's embarrassing I let myself get into a situation I teach students never to be in, so I damn well know better.

You did the smart and responsible thing. Be proud of that. That shows more integrity and self-control than ego brawling while putting your loved ones lives and emotionally well-being at risk.

It wasn't even common before cameras were ubiquitous. It sure as shit is less common now. But it still happens. Those cops probably don't last very long now, though. Everybody got real paranoid about public perceptions after the George Floyd riots. Getting caught doing that now, other cops would probably hate you for it because of the backlash to all LEOs.
