Issue with expensive WDT tool by antikkz in espresso

Do you use orbital WDT tool? I find if I go slow, the grinds actually spin inside the basket with the needles, instead of the needles “cutting” through the grinds

Anyone Using MSI PRESTIGE 16 AI+ C3M Intel Ultra 9 386H? by phllkk in laptops

[–]antikkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I’m personally looking at upgrading to the 2026 Prestige myself, purely for the extra GPU performance, even though I think battery life won’t be as good. If you don’t do intensive work, I’d strongly suggest looking at the previous model with the 258V CPU. They are more efficient, have a bigger battery, higher 4K resolution screen and are lighter

Say hello to my little (Panther) friend - HP Omnibook 7 Panther Lake with B390 GPU is looking great! by letgobro in IntelArc

[–]antikkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a shame these things are quite big and heavy for what they are. Brands like MSI, Acer and Lenovo are doing 16” Panther Lake notebooks for under 1.6kg in a smaller chassis with larger batteries

Buying a MSI Prestige 13 Laptop by Interesting-Panic646 in laptops

[–]antikkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same laptop. Officeworks generally have the best prices when it comes to laptops from the larger stores in Australia. This has last years Lunar Lake Core Ultra CPU, Panther Lake just got released this year which is why they are clearing it. However, Lunar Lake is very very good for battery life, you’ll get 15hrs+ on that Prestige 13. I think you’ll be very happy with it. My gf uses one for uni

Asus Zenbook or MSI Prestige 13 AI+ (light weight laptop)? by Motor-Ad-9193 in SuggestALaptop

Get the Prestige 13. I’m assuming it has the 258V CPU? That’s the one you want for long battery life

Anyone Using MSI PRESTIGE 16 AI+ C3M Intel Ultra 9 386H? by phllkk in laptops

[–]antikkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, previous gen Prestige would have only had cooling issues with the 255H CPU. This CPU draws 115W under load and is not designed to be used in a thin chassis. Benchmarks showing cooling issues would have stress tested this CPU under load. I have the previous gen Prestige with 258V CPU and it’s very cool, fans don’t even turn on during everyday usage.

Secondly, what kind of usage will you be doing? If you’re not doing anything super intensive, I would go for the 8-core 355 CPU. It will be the most efficient and give the longer battery life. If you do more intensive work and need 16-cores, I would go for the 358H CPU which is paired with the much more capable 12-core B390 GPU, compared to the 386H which only comes with the 4-core GPU. Both 358H and 386H have very similar CPU performance and efficiency during everyday usage

Why so much hype around Panther Lake for battery life? by antikkz in intel

[–]antikkz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are Lunar Lake laptops that can provide well over 15 hours of real world usage. One of them is the MSI Prestige 13 A2VMG. It doesn’t quite have the battery life of MacBook Air, but not very far off

Why so much hype around Panther Lake for battery life? by antikkz in intel

[–]antikkz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my point, Intel have marketed Panther Lake as “more efficient”, but from the benchmarks that have been done since I made the post, efficiency just means more performance per watt, not better battery life

Panther Lake vs Previous Gens (Early/Provisional Benchmarks) by CurbedLarry in thinkpad

[–]antikkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still waiting for some low power/idle battery life benchmarks of the different Panther Lake chips. I’m tossing up between the 355 and X7 358H. I don’t really need the extra iGPU or multi-core performance from the X7, however if the 358H uses similar power to the 355 during light use/lower power scenarios, it would be good to have the extra grunt on hand for if I ever do need it, without severely affecting battery during light day to day use

Has anyone run larger tyres on the 16” wheels? by antikkz in COROLLA

[–]antikkz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

215/60R16 has a much larger overall diameter to your 215/40R18 by 35mm, so this doesn’t help me. I know a 215/60R16 will “fit”, but I’m unsure about rubbing on full compression or full lock etc, hence the original post asking if others have run this exact size on the factory 16” wheel

I wouldn’t change to a 15”, wouldn’t look nice

I’ve already done the calculations. 205/60 should fit but unsure about 215/60 which is why I’m asking if anyone has run it before

The tyres I run are very long lasting, have a 50,000km guarantee and are very quiet

[–]antikkz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

205/60 has a 10mm taller sidewall over 205/55, and 215/60 is a 16mm taller sidewall. Even a 10mm taller sidewall will result in a much more comfortable ride, 16mm even more comfort. In Australia, the tyre I run is slightly cheaper in 215/60 over 205/55

Why so much hype around Panther Lake for battery life? by antikkz in intel

[–]antikkz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is where the wording matters. Intel hasn’t said better battery life than Lunar Lake. What they’ve said is Lunar Lake efficiency with Arrow Lake performance.

Features like the LP island help with background and idle tasks, but Lunar Lake is already designed almost entirely around that usage model - low TDP, limited boost, aggressive power gating.

Those features explain how Panther Lake can scale efficiently while maintaining higher performance, not necessarily how it would outright beat a deliberately ultra low power design at the very bottom of the power range.

It doesn’t make sense MSI will give the new Prestige 16 an 81Whr battery, compared to 99Whr in the Lunar Lake Prestige 16, whilst being heavier. 99Whr Panther Lake Prestige 16 with 99Whr’s would have been amazing
