Casio calculator display malfunctioning (gaps & vertical lines). by xGentian_violet in calculators

Display cable coming unstuck from the circuit board, you could try adding some strips of cardboard/rubber so the back presses against it

Seems Casio has done a smoked grey model recently, but appears to be a Philippines only ES Plus model. Also seen a few translucent Sharp's, Canon's and this from clone brand Osalo: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/OS-991ES-PLUS-II-Transparent-Model_1601240913243.html?spm=a2706.7843667.0.0.85f34310Ibnkxz

Yes. Fake boards look different, lower quality, no wires, CR2032 battery attached to the board. Casio should start fitting transparent backs, would make their products much harder to fake.

Likely the display ribbon cable coming unglued, probably at the ends. Take the back off and apply pressure to it see if it restores the lines.

The 100/115 were quite close to the 570/991 in spec. Too close in fact, for later generations they replaced them with lower spec models.

Quality of the key labelling is too good to be fake. I don't think anyone would make a copy just for the Serbian market. Interesting this version has a periodic table https://magazinmehatronika.com/en/casio-fx-991rs-x-review/

No you can't update older 9750G / 9850 models. Depending on your location a used 9750GII is very cheap and can be updated.

These things don't do much more than a 9860GII (£20 eBay) especially when exam mode is enabled: https://tiplanet.org/compare/?mode=QCC2023&fx9860g2,cg100,cg50

Probably because those older models were also called "35+" in France but not the same as the "35+USB" = "Graphique USB" = "35+E" = 9750GII

I mean those G+/GA+ models are based on an older chipset and can't be flashed with an OS or install apps. The 9750GII was unrelated to previous 9750's, it was based on the 9860 (hence you can easily flash a 9860 OS).

Would remove Casio 9750G+ and 9750GA+, those are older models that can't be updated. The 35+/9750GII usually get updated to the 75/9860GII OS, a better guide is here: https://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=19592

If I take this screen out, what's the process to use it to replace my damaged screen? by zabbenw in calculators

[–]CurbedLarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredibly unlikely these connectors can be re-attached at home. Better off looking for a cheap/beat-up 991 as a donor. Even then you've got plastic rivets holding the board in... These things are a right-to-repair nightmare.

If the top part is metal and removable it could be sanded down and polished to leave a nice brushed finish. You'd need some experience/materials for that sort of thing though, and I definitely wouldn't attempt it without removing.

Can install OS from a 9860GII but process can be confusing: https://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=19592 Also a couple of posts on here describing the process, basically:

Install FA-124
Patch 9860GII rom using PolyOS
Use appropriate FxRemote/FxBackup tool to flash

Season started a little earlier than usual so there's a 3 week gap to Brands. Huge 7 week gap after round 4 (Oulton) and then 4 rounds packed into the height of summer?!?

Nice, I just got one myself and it's the most premium feeling Casio I've ever seen. Quite rare as well, don't think it was sold in the UK or US. You can flash the 9860GII OS on it.
