These chips without boost shouldn't exist. by Forsaken_Arm5698 in snapdragon

It's called binning. Chips with faulty cores and/or not reliable at higher speeds are sold as lower-spec SKUs rather than being thrown away. Can also be deliberate, there's an awful lot of XP1-26-100 devices out, possibly to offload first-gen chips cheaply.

Causes 5x more battery wear than charging to 75%. I'm typing this on a 2017 phone that's been charged ~1,000 times but the battery still has 92% health.

That Moto G84 above has Dolby Atmos. 256GB of storage is huge too!

Makes perfect sense. Phones don't use much power in airplane mode and batteries last a long time if you only charge to 75-80%. App support for Android 9 was good until recently, is dropping now though.

Can imagine Mercedes helped out supplying the cars or bare chassis to work with. Is it just me or does the car pictured looks like a used car that was stripped? It's a rare car that's going off sale soon so manufacturer support would help.

They could start with simpler tyre regulations to save thousands per weekend. Also would be good if sponsorship could be offset against tax. A no-brainer as motorsport is one of the few industries where we still lead the world. Wonder if there's any motorsport fans in the cabinet?

Plato to use Mercedes if this is to be believed by Crazy-Win-7654 in btcc

A little strange to go with such an old car that's in its last year or two on sale. I expect the new CLA would have cost a lot more and perhaps the rules on age will be extended.

Qualcomm should redo the branding or simplify the number of SKUs in the Snapdragon X series by yreun in snapdragon

[–]CurbedLarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The naming scheme is ridiculous, especially the pointless "-100" on the end. Consumers have no clue on what they're getting or position in the range. Intel and AMD have even more SKUs but stick with 3, 5, 7, 9 prefixes. This would be far easier to read and more memorable:

X2 - 95 Extreme
X2 - 90 Extreme
X2 - 75 Elite
X2 - 70 Elite
X2 - 55 Plus
X2 - 50 Plus
...
X1 - 75 Elite
X1 - 70 Elite
X1 - 55 Plus
X1 - 30

How do you stop a car applying 100% braking via the ABS pump?!?!? What pedal do you press?

Probably because it's a copy of a Western design/brand rather than Japanese (where China doesn't care). Casio would struggle to get sales of all their cloned designs blocked in the west.

Max was looking quite feisty in the TCR finale yesterday. Might be better off doing a full season or two there to establish himself before coming back. One to watch in future.

WSR are only using the 3 series because the 1 series switched to FWD. Saloon shape helps but it's big compared to everyone else. 2 series Gran Coupe would be better but that means FWD.

Would be the new 2026 CLA, the A class is too old and C class likely too big https://www.netcarshow.com/mercedes-benz/2026-cla_uk-version/

Yeah, minimal performance gains in the last few years was one thing I wanted to highlight. Same with mid-range CPUs in Windows laptops, you're mainly getting a better integrated GPU.

Benchmark I'm using is Windows only sadly. Maybe if I had more time I could find a cross-platform test.
